近日在印度個別地區出現尼帕病毒感染疫情,澳門特別行政區政府衛生局正密切留意事態發展,呼籲市民避免前往當地;而身處當地人士應做好預防措施,回澳後若出現流感樣症狀,儘早就醫,主動向醫生說明外遊史和接觸史。

Dear colleagues and students,
Recently there are outbreaks of Nipah Virus Infection in certain areas in India. Health Bureau of Government of Macao S.A.R. is paying close attention to the situation. Residents should avoid travelling to the affected areas. Those who are currently staying there should take preventive actions. Seek medical assistance immediately and tell the doctor about your travelling history if you develop flu-like symptoms when returning to Macao.

Understanding Nipah Virus: a zoonotic disease; mainly carried by fruit bats.
Mode of transmission:
1) contact with sick animals via their contaminated respiratory droplets or secretions;
2) comsume contaminated fruits or fruit products;
3) close contact with contaminated secretions and excretions of infected persons.
Symptoms:
1) Early symptoms are similar to flu-like symptoms;
2) Serious symptoms include difficult in breathing, decrease in consciousness and fatal encephalitis; case fatality rate is relatively high.
Prevention: Avoid visiting the affected areas. If you have to go there, please take the following preventive measures:
1) pay attention to personal hygiene and food hygiene;
2) avoid contacting the infected animals;
3) avoid contacting the infected persons;
4) seek medical assistance immediately and tell the doctor about the travelling history if feeling unwell within 14 days of returning to Macao.
