MCM College: Nature Walk Series: Hiking in Zhuhai – Haitian Park
MCM College: Série Caminhada na Natureza: Caminhada em Zhuhai – Parque Haitian

On Sunday morning, 19th April, 2026, Associate Master, Dr. Manuel Noronha, college affiliate, Prof. Kaian LAM, and three resident assistants Thomas Yongqin Feng, Kaliyah Xiyue Li, and Cathy Zhexin Ouyang led a group of 35 hiking enthusiasts to Zhuhai’s Xiangshan Cloud Trail.

The 9km trail is a special anti-slip wooden boardwalk circuit which creates a three-dimensional touring network offering spectacular views of the mountain, lake and urban areas.
The Xiangshan Lake section stretches approximately three kilometers, whilst encircling another section of Xiangshan Lake Park. Participants often stopped to marvel at the picturesque views of interconnecting mountains and lakes. The entire trail connects multiple urban landscape nodes from west to east, including Xiangshan Lake Park, Xiangshan Station, Shixi Park, Dajingshan Lake, Sports Park, and Haitian Park.
Despite being quite a hot day, with temperatures soaring to 29 degrees and with little shade, everyone really enjoyed being outdoors. The elevated boardwalk as it offered a fun and relaxing experience by seamlessly blending panoramic sea views with lush mountainous landscapes. The walkway provides an escape route – one that eases tension and stress, especially with final exams looming within the next two weeks.

This activity is not only a physical exercise to advocate a healthy lifestyle, but also a valuable opportunity for cultural engagement. By walking through Zhuhai’s classic ecological trail and feeling the city’s natural and cultural charm, participants further integrated into the local cultural context, enhanced their connection with the city, and also deepened the communication and friendship among college members.
“Although the journey was physically demanding and tiring, this valuable outdoor experience was highly meaningful. It effectively strengthened physical health and advocated a positive healthy lifestyle, while allowing participants to admire the stunning natural landscapes along the way”. Tony Wang Ziteng.
“Walking through the mountain circular trail and overlooking Dajingshan Reservoir offered us a chance to witness the authentic natural beauty of Zhuhai. Despite physical tiredness, she was fully immersed in the rich and refreshing natural atmosphere, and regarded this hiking activity as a delightful and rewarding experience”. Carmen Wang Jiamin.
