CKPC and SPC Students Complete Life Experience Activity
On 11 April 2026, 20 students from the University of Macau’s Chao Kuang Piu College and Shiu Pong College gathered at the Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau’s Wynn Care for Life Experience Centre to participate in a meaningful life exploration activity themed “Living Towards Life, Reflecting Towards Death.”
The activity focused on two core stages of the life journey: the “Compassionate Golden Years” elderly care zone and the “Fragrant Return Voyage” end-of-life zone. Through immersive experiences and in-depth interactions, students gained a profound understanding of the unique meaning and value of different phases of life.
In the “Compassionate Golden Years” elderly experience area, students donned professional aging simulation suits to personally experience the challenges brought by blurred vision, reduced hearing, and stiff joints. They attempted everyday tasks such as dressing, walking, and picking up objects. In these seemingly simple actions, they truly felt the difficulties faced by the elderly in daily life. This experience not only deepened their understanding of the elderly’s situation but also effectively cultivated empathy and a caring mindset.
Subsequently, in the “Fragrant Return Voyage” zone, teachers from Kiang Wu Nursing College guided the students in an inspiring card-based interactive game. Participants were asked to imagine that they had only six months left to live, and from a set of cards representing various life values, they had to carefully select the two most important to them. They then shared the reasons and heartfelt thoughts behind their choices with their peers. Through sincere exchanges, the students confronted the finitude of life, re-examined the importance of health, companionship, ideals, and life values, and gained a deeper appreciation of the meaning of life through sharing and listening.
This life experience journey left the participating students with rich rewards. Not only did they deepen their understanding of the different stages of life, but they also learned to view things from others’ perspectives, to understand and embrace with greater compassion, and to cherish the present moment while learning to care for those around them.
