Dear students,

We are excited to announce the “2023/2024 UM Speech Contest” at the University of Macau. This contest aims to enhance the learning atmosphere and the development of public speaking skills on campus. It provides an opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of the “One Country, Two Systems” policy and explore their roles and responsibilities in the development of the Macao Special Administrative Region.

The contest also serves as a platform for students to showcase their public speaking skills, expressive abilities, creativity, and critical thinking. It offers a stage for participants to deliver impactful speeches and express their ideas to others. 

Event Details:
Organizer: Student Affairs Office, University of Macau
Participants: Undergraduate students of the University of Macau
Theme: “Growing Together with the Special Administrative Region, Creating a New Chapter of ‘One Country, Two Systems'”

Registration:

• Application Deadline: From now until 1 January, 2024 (Monday)

• Contest Format: Preliminary round (video submission and speech manuscript), Final round (public speaking)
• Language: Cantonese or Mandarin

• Announcement of Finalists (10 individuals): Before January 10, 2024 (Wednesday)
• Final Round Submission Deadline (revised speech manuscript): January 24, 2024 (Wednesday)

Prizes:

• Champion: Supermarket vouchers worth MOP 2,000
• 1st Runner-up: Supermarket vouchers worth MOP 1,500
• 2nd Runner-up: Supermarket vouchers worth MOP 1,000
• All finalists will receive certificates and qualify to represent the University of Macau in the Macau Inter-University Diplomatic Speech Contest and the Constitution and Basic Law Speech Contest.
