Library News — Two Library Workshops to be held in the UM Library for Research Metrics and OA publishing

Dear Library Users,

We are glad to inform that the following two library workshops will be held during this month in the University Library.

a. 10 Nov 2023 (Friday), 3:00-4:30 pm  —  Responsible use of research metrics

The workshop will give an overview of different research metrics and address the need for responsible metrics through popular citation databases and tools, which are important to the individual researchers and may also apply to many areas of the work in the related academic units and the institution as a whole. There will be a brief demonstration session during the workshop, including author search and profile update request,  document search and trend analysis, and so on.

b. 24 Nov 2023 (Friday), 3:00-4:30 pmHow Transformative Agreements help faculty publish open access papers?

The workshop will give some background information and current status of open access publishing through transformative agreements in a global context. It will provide and examine the common practices in the region and worldwide.  Several transformative agreements that enable our researchers at UM to publish their accepted articles in open access free of charge will also be introduced and discussed.

We look forward to meeting you at the workshops and discussing with you about your concerns and ideas.
