On October 11^th and 18^th, University of Macau Moon Chun Memorial College organized two academic research workshops. The series of workshops aim to assist undergraduate students in enhancing their academic skills and strategies in information searching, reviewing of literature, and systematic writing.

Both workshops were conducted by Ms. Jia-qi Candice Zheng, the resident tutor of Moon Chun Memorial College and a PhD student at the Faculty of Education, University of Macau. The first workshop focused on database searching skills. Firstly, Candice began by explaining the definition, purpose, and process of academic research. She then introduced three important academic databases in detail and further shared the academic searching skills. Finally, students had the opportunity to formulate a research question, as well as search and analyze the literature in a systematic way.

The second workshop focused on academic writing skills, covering language usage and the structure of academic writing. At the same time, Candice shared her publication experience in an SSCI journal with the students, and encouraged them to actively pursue their academic research.

Students who participated in these workshops expressed that they learned a lot and looked forward to further academic-related activities. In the future, Moon Chun Memorial College will organize more academic-related activities to enhance students’ academic literacy.
