“International Volunteer Day 2023: Outstanding Volunteer Awards Ceremony” was recently held at the Bodhi Social Service Building. The award ceremony was organized by the Association of Volunteer Social Service Macao and sponsored by the Macau Education and Youth Development Bureau. The ceremony aimed to recognize outstanding volunteers from various sectors of society. HU Xinran, a second-year student from Institute of Collaborative Innovation, and CHAN Chi Cheng, a third-year student from the Moon Chun Memorial College and Faculty of Education, were honored with the Top Ten Outstanding Youth Volunteer Awards.
During the event, LIO Iok Kuan, President of the Association of Volunteer Social Service Macao, expressed her expectation that the public would gain a better understanding of voluntary work through this activity. She encouraged volunteers to continue their efforts with an inclusive and service-oriented mindset. She also expressed the desire to commend and inspire more citizens to engage in volunteer service to contribute back to society.
In her award speech, student HU expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, and she also extended her sincere appreciation to the University of Macau Volunteer Programme (UMVP) for giving her this opportunity. Although UMVP is a relatively new team, every member has been actively and wholeheartedly participating in volunteer activities, such as visiting elderly people who live alone. She hoped that everyone can pay more attention to volunteer activities and support UMVP in the future.
CHAN Chi Cheng was unable to attend the awards ceremony. Once again, congratulations to two awardees.
