UM English Speech Contest Performance 2024

We are excited to announce the UM English Speech Contest Performance 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your English public speaking skills and immerse yourself in a vibrant English learning atmosphere. Here are the details:

I. Aims:
The English Speech Contest aims to foster an English learning environment at UM while providing students with a platform to demonstrate their talent and passion for public speaking in English. Esteemed instructors and English public speaking experts will serve as judges, offering valuable feedback to enhance your performance. This contest will also help connect and build the English public speaking community on campus.

II. Theme:
The theme for the contest is “Cybersecurity and Its Impact on Today’s Youth.”

III. Registration Period and Place:

1. Application and Submission:

• Application deadline: March 5, 2024 (Tuesday)
• Application link: https://forms.gle/ZkRprgyzuT4YWxqx5
• Format: Video and script
• The soft copy of the script should be in MS Word format and named as: “student ID – English name – Script,” for example, AB123456 – CHAN TAI MAN – Script.
• Both the video and the script must be attached in the application form as accessible links.

2. Important Dates:

• First round submission deadline (video and script): March 5, 2024 (Tuesday)
• Announcement of the finalists (6 participants): March 19, 2024 (Tuesday)
• Final round submission deadline (revised script): March 23, 2024 (Saturday)

3. Final Round:

• Date: April 9, 2024 (Tuesday)
• Time: 7:30 pm
• Venue: E31-1001

IV. Contest Methods:

1. First Round:

• Prepare a 3-4 minute speech (video and script)

2. Final Round:

• Deliver a 3-4 minute prepared speech
• Participate in a Q&A session (1 minute)

V. Prizes:

• Champion: MOP800
• First Runner-up: MOP500
• Second Runner-up: MOP300
• Certificates will be awarded to all finalists.
