南太平洋大學校長率團訪澳大

南太平洋大學校長Pal Ahluwalia率代表團訪問澳門大學,獲澳大校長宋永華和副校長馬許願熱情接待。雙方進行座談交流,就科研合作、師生交流、人才培養等議題進行深入討論。

會上,宋永華向代表團介紹澳大的歷史及發展沿革。他表示,澳大近年致力提升國際化程度,與全球知名高校拓展合作,同時積極融入粵港澳大灣區協同發展,致力為中國及國際社會培養人才。Pal Ahluwalia表示,南太平洋大學一直與澳洲、新西蘭等高校緊密合作,近年進一步拓展亞太地區的合作網絡,期望與澳大開展在海洋科學及工商管理等領域的科研項目、學生交流等合作。

另外,代表團一行到澳大圖書館參觀古籍館及和藝術博物館,了解澳大的古籍研究和整理工作,以及藝術學科發展。Pal Ahluwalia對澳大近年的科教發展和人才培育給予高度評價。

南太平洋大學於1968年在斐濟蘇瓦成立,是太平洋地區首屈一指的學府,致力提升教育和科研發展。該大學設有六個學院,涵蓋工程、資訊科技、法學、社會科學、工商管理、人文藝術、農業、自然科學等多個學術領域。

南太平洋大學代表團成員還有發展合作主管Aneet Kumar。澳大全球事務總監王瑞兵亦有參與接待。

President of University of the South Pacific leads delegation to visit UM

A delegation led by Pal Ahluwalia, vice-chancellor and president of the University of the South Pacific (USP), visited the University of Macau (UM) and was warmly received by UM Rector Yonghua Song and Vice Rector Rui Martins. The two parties held a meeting to discuss research collaboration, student and faculty exchanges, and talent cultivation.

During the meeting, Song gave the delegation an overview of UM’s history and development. He said that UM has been committed to enhancing its level of internationalisation and expanding its cooperation with world-renowned universities, while actively supporting the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and nurturing talent for China and the international community. Ahluwalia said that USP has been working closely with universities in Australia and New Zealand, and has expanded its cooperation network in the Asia-Pacific region in recent years. He looks forward to establishing research cooperation with UM in fields such as ocean sciences and business, and student exchanges. In addition, the delegation visited the Rare Book Collection Room and the Museum of Art of UM Library to learn about the university’s rare book research and management. Ahluwalia spoke highly of UM’s research development and talent cultivation.
