健康小貼士 (03/2023): 諾如病毒引起的胃腸炎

親愛的同事及同學們：

近日在社區相繼出現集體胃腸炎個案，其中諾如病毒是十分容易在集體院舍及學校內感染。

諾如病毒

  • 是病毒性胃腸炎常見病因之一且極易傳染；
  • 各年齡人士均易感染；
  • 傳播途徑：食用或飲用受病毒污染的食物或水、接觸患者嘔吐物或糞便、接觸受病毒污染的物品，或經飛沫傳染；
  • 潛伏期為24至48小時。

病徵

  • 噁心、嘔吐、腹瀉水樣便、腹痛、輕微發燒；
  • 一般病情較輕，病程為1至5天，併發症不常見。

預防方法

  • 注意個人、環境和食物衛生；
  • 處理完病人的糞便及嘔吐物後立即更換手套及洗手；
  • 出現嘔吐或腹瀉，切勿上班或上學，並儘早求診。

Dear colleagues and students,

Recently there are outbreaks of gastroenteritis in the local community. Infection of norovirus is one of the most common causes of gastroenteritis. Norovirus can be easily infected in nursing homes and schools.

Norovirus

  • One of the most common causes of viral gastroenteritis and is highly contagious;
  • People of all ages are susceptible to infection;
  • Routes of transmission: eating or drinking the contaminated food or water; contacting patients’ vomitus, excrement, contaminated items, or transmitting through droplets;
  • The incubation period is 24 to 48 hours.

Symptoms

  • Nausea, vomiting, watery diarrhea, abdominal pain, mild fever;
  • The disease is generally mild, with a course of 1 to 5 days. Complications are not common.

Prevention

  • Pay attention to personal, environmental and food hygiene;
  • Change gloves and wash hands immediately after handling patients’ excrement and vomitus;
  • Do not go to work or school If developing symptoms such as vomiting or diarrhea. Seek medical assistance as soon as possible.
