UM’s ten residential colleges hold series of career planning activities
The ten residential colleges (RC) of the University of Macau (UM) held a series of career planning activities from August 2024 to January 2025, with the aim of helping students better cope with the increasing challenges of employment and academic development. A total of 53 RC students completed the RC Academic Tutorial Programme on Career Planning and received certificates from Mok Kai Meng, vice rector of UM.
Throughout the first semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, the ten RCs jointly held a series of career planning activities to enhance students’ awareness and basic skills in career planning in various aspects. As part of the programme, students visited enterprises in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, where they had close communication with human resources personnel. They also attended talks on career planning, alumni sharing sessions, and booth games about financial planning. In addition, the students had one-on-one meetings with mentors who hold the Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) certification, and discussed personal development challenges and possible solutions in depth. Participating students say that the programme has made them pay more attention to career issues that they rarely considered before, and that they will start to take action for their career planning.
The RCs will continue to organise career planning activities and constantly explore ways to optimise the content and organisation of the activities, so as to help students achieve personal growth and integrate into the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
