On 26^th February, 2025, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau and the Association for the Promotion of Public Legal Services jointly organised a seminar titled “My Career Story Series”. The theme of the seminar was “Dare to Dream,” featuring Lawyer Chen Pei Kei, Vice President of the association, and Trainee Lawyer Nina Wu, executive member of the association. As guest speaker, they shared their journeys to becoming lawyers and the various opportunities and challenges they encountered in their practice.

During his sharing, Chen mentioned that he did not initially intend to become a lawyer. However, an internship experience during his university years exposed him to the professionalism and diversity of legal work, inspiring him to pursue a career as a lawyer. At each stage of his journey, he had different insights: he believed that behind every profound legal principle lies the noble ideals of freedom and equality, and behind every real trial are significant life experiences of others. Ultimately, he believes that a lawyer should regard “achieving justice” as their lifelong career, and this “inner sense of justice” is essential for every true legal professional. Chen emphasized that young people should not limit themselves in the pursuit of their dreams, but should dare to dream, persevere, and stay true to their original aspirations.

Nina Wu, in sharing her own journey, stated that before becoming a trainee lawyer, one must first study hard in the faculty of law to obtain a law degree, and then pass the admission exams (written and oral) of the Macao Lawyers Association. During the internship, one must complete the courses and assessments arranged by the Macao Lawyers Association, as well as practical case work and attend numerous court hearings. She believes that the process of becoming a trainee lawyer requires persistence and effort. The legal profession not only requires profound professional knowledge but also a determined and passionate heart. She encouraged the students attending the seminar to bravely pursue their dreams, face challenges, and wished everyone success in their endeavors.
