At noon on March 11, 2025, Room E33-1045 was filled with a warm atmosphere as the inaugural “Lunch with the Dean” event took place. Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of FED and Prof. Zhaowei KONG, Associate Dean (Teaching) of FED along with over 20 undergraduate students, gathered for an in-depth and detailed face-to-face exchange on multiple topics.

During the more than hour-long discussion, students spoke freely. Topics such as curriculum system optimization, interdisciplinary elective mechanisms, House Programme building, coordination with overseas exchange programs, and internship arrangements became hot points of discussion. Dean Fan listened attentively to each comment, nodding in agreement from time to time, and provided positive responses to related questions. For issues that could not be immediately resolved on the spot, Dean Fan instructed relevant personnel to follow up and ensure that every suggestion made by the students would be properly addressed. At the end of the event, Dean Fan emphasized “Student experience is at the core of our faculty’s work, and your satisfaction is our greatest pursuit. He hoped everyone will continue to provide feedback actively in the future, and the faculty will spare no effort to provide better services and learning experiences for all of you.”

This “Lunch with the Dean” event not only enhanced understanding and communication between professors and students but also injected new vitality and momentum into the development of FED.
