FED – The 2nd Batch of “Macao Training Programme for Primary and Secondary School Principals and Teachers” Successfully Held

Jointly organized by the University of Macau (UM) and the Chinese Society of Education (CSE), the 2nd batch of Macao Training Programme for Primary and Secondary School Principals and Teachers was successfully held from 9 to 15 April 2025. A total of 38 primary and secondary school principals and teachers from Mainland China and Macao convened in Macao to participate in the 7-day intensive training programme. The programme aimed to deepen participants’ understanding of latest development in Artificial Intelligence (AI) within the education sector and to foster collaboration and exchanges among educational practitioners from Mainland China and Macao. 

During the programme, participants attended a series of lectures delivered by professors from Faculty of Education covering diverse topics related to AI and K-12 education. They also visited three local schools in Macao, including Pui Ching Middle School, Escola Fukin and Lou Hau High School to learn about  their practical experiences and achievements in AI and STEM education. Visits to the State Key Laboratory of Smart City Internet of Things at UM and the Macao Science Center further enhanced participants’ understanding of cutting-edge technologies and their applications in non-tertiary education. Additionally, participants visited the Education and Youth Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government to gain insights into the current status and unique characteristics of Macao’s educational development and met the representatives from the Chinese Educators Association of Macau for academic exchange. 

At the graduation ceremony on April 15, group representatives shared their learning experiences and reflections. Participants highlighted that the programme had prompted them to rethink new directions for school development and emerging needs for teacher professional development. They acknowledged the programme as a valuable platform for exchanging ideas and inspiring educational reforms. Notably, participants praised the innovation and enthusiasm in STEM education demonstrated by Macao schools and expressed their intention to apply these experiences to their own schools. Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of the Faculty of Education presented graduation certificates to all participants, encouraging them to implement the knowledge they learned from this training programme in future educational practices. He also expressed hope for sustained communication and collaboration with participants’ schools in academic research and teaching practices.

         由澳門大學和中國教育學會合辦的“中小學校長教師澳門研修班 (第2期)”於2025年4月9日至15日順利舉行，來自內地及澳門的38位中小學校長和教師齊聚澳門，在為期七天的密集研修活動共同交流進步。此次研修班旨在幫助校長和教師們深入瞭解人工智能在教育領域內的最新發展，並促進兩地教育工作者的合作與交流。

        研修班期間，學員們聆聽了由多位澳大教育學院教授主講的一系列專題講座，涵蓋了人工智能與學校教育相關的各種話題。學員們也參訪了三所澳門本地學校，包括培正中學、澳門福建學校和勞校中學，深入學習這些學校在人工智能與STEM教育方面的實踐經驗和成果。學員們還參觀了澳大的智慧城市物聯網國家重點實驗室和澳門科學館，進一步瞭解前沿科技及其在非高等教育中的應用。此外，學員們拜訪了中央人民政府駐澳門特別行政區聯絡辦公室教育與青年工作部，進一步瞭解澳門教育的發展現況及特點，同時也跟澳門中華教育會代表會面，彼此進行學術交流。

        在4月15日的結業禮上，各小組代表總結匯報了此次研修的學習經歷與感悟。學員們表示，此次研修促使他們思考學校發展的新方向和教師職業發展的新需求。研修班提供了寶貴的交流平臺，啟發他們推動學校教學改革。學員們還特別稱讚了澳門中小學在STEM教育中的創新和熱情，並希望將這些經驗應用於自己學校的發展中。教育學院院長范良火為各位學員頒發了結業證書，鼓勵他們將所學的知識應用到未來的教育實踐中，並希望日後和各校保持交流，在學術研究和教學實踐等方面開展合作。

FED – Delegation from the School of Physics and Information Engineering of Guangdong University of Education visited the Faculty of Education

On April 10, 2025, a delegation from the School of Physics and Information Engineering of Guangdong University of Education visited the Faculty of Education (FED) of the University of Macau (UM). They were warmly received by Prof. Zhaowei KONG, Associate Dean (Teaching) of FED; Prof. Xiufeng LIU, Director of the Educational Testing and Assessment Research Centre and Prof. Bing WEI, Programme Coordinator of Bachelor of Education Programme (Integrated Science). The delegation members included: Yijie TANG, Party Committee Secretary of the School of Physics and Information Engineering, Qiawu LIN, Deputy Director of the Academic Affairs Office, Sa YANG, Dean of the School of Physics and Information Engineering，Jie GAO, Associate Dean of the School of Physics and Information Engineering, Chuyu OU, Department Head of Science Education and faculty members including Shuang LI, Xinyue HE, Zhenlan JIAO and Jiong LIN of the School of Physics and Information Engineering.

Prof. Kong provided an overview of the FED’s composition, curriculum structure and developmental vision. Secretary Tang then presented the historical evolution and current initiatives of Guangdong University of Education. The two parties held extensive discussions on key topics, including: Strategies for teacher training and talent development in modern education; Distinctive academic strengths and curriculum innovations at both institutions; Potential collaborations in undergraduate-to-postgraduate articulation programmes.

After the meeting, the delegation toured the FED’s facilities, including its practical teaching spaces. This exchange deepened mutual understanding and established a strong foundation for future cooperation between the two institutions.

        2025年4月10日，廣東第二師範學院代表團來訪澳門大學教育學院，受到了副院長(教學)孔兆偉，教育測驗與評核研究中心主任柳秀峰及教育學學士學位課程統籌人(綜合科學)魏冰的熱烈歡迎。代表團成員包括：廣東第二師範學院物理與資訊工程學院黨委書記唐以杰、教務處副處長林洽武、物理與資訊工程學院院長楊颯、副院長高潔、物理與資訊工程學院科學教育系系主任區楚瑜、物理與資訊工程學院物理系副系主任蘇明樣及物理與資訊工程學院科學教育系教師李爽、何心悅、焦振蘭及林炯。

        孔副院長對教育學院的師資組成、課程內容和發展願景等基本情況進行了分享，而唐書記向大家介紹了廣東第二師範學院的發展歷史及現狀等。雙方共同探討分享了在當前教育情況下對教師培訓及人才培養、雙方學校的專業特色與課程建設、境內外本碩銜接合作等多方面的看法。
 
        會後，代表團參觀了教育學院的多處設施，並對實踐課程與教學場地進行了考察。此次交流不僅加深了彼此之間的瞭解，並為雙方後續溝通交流，互相合作奠定了堅實的基礎。

On April 10, 2025, Mr. Hoi-ting SIU, Deputy Chief Executive of Tin Ka Ping Foundation visited the Faculty of Education (FED) of the University of Macau. Prof. Ping Cheng WANG, Assistant Dean (Student Affairs) and Prof. Dongbo ZHANG, International and External Partnership Leader of FED have engaged in in-depth discussions with Mr. Siu. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration between the Foundation and the Faculty while exploring future directions in education development.

On behalf of FED, Prof. Wang expressed sincere gratitude for the Foundation’s long-standing support, particularly highlighting the significant impact of the “Tin Ka Ping Scholarship” in encouraging students’ academic and personal growth. Prof. Zhang commended the Foundation’s outstanding contributions to advancing education in mainland China, emphasizing its profound influence in enhancing educational quality and promoting equity.

During the meeting, Prof. Zhang and Prof. Wang introduced the Faculty’s latest initiatives, including a series of professional development programmes and training projects for teachers in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. These efforts aim to improve teaching competencies and professionalism while fostering regional educational collaboration and exchange opportunities.

Mr. Siu underscored the importance of moral education and proposed closer cooperation between FED and Tin Ka Ping-affiliated schools across mainland China to facilitate resource sharing and exchanges in basic education.

This meeting further deepened the partnership between the Tin Ka Ping Foundation and FED, laying a solid foundation for future collaborative goals and contributing to the sustainable development of regional education.

        王秉正教授首先代表教育學院對田家炳基金會長期以來的支持表示衷心感謝，特別提到基金會捐贈的「田家炳獎學金」對學生的學術和個人發展的重要和鼓勵。張東波教授高度讚揚基金會在推動內地教育發展方面的卓越貢獻，並指出基金會的努力對提升教育質量和促進教育公平具有深遠影響。

FED – The Faculty of Education of University of Macau hosted an event on “Lunch with the Dean”

At noon on March 11, 2025, Room E33-1045 was filled with a warm atmosphere as the inaugural “Lunch with the Dean” event took place. Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of FED and Prof. Zhaowei KONG, Associate Dean (Teaching) of FED along with over 20 undergraduate students, gathered for an in-depth and detailed face-to-face exchange on multiple topics.

During the more than hour-long discussion, students spoke freely. Topics such as curriculum system optimization, interdisciplinary elective mechanisms, House Programme building, coordination with overseas exchange programs, and internship arrangements became hot points of discussion. Dean Fan listened attentively to each comment, nodding in agreement from time to time, and provided positive responses to related questions. For issues that could not be immediately resolved on the spot, Dean Fan instructed relevant personnel to follow up and ensure that every suggestion made by the students would be properly addressed. At the end of the event, Dean Fan emphasized “Student experience is at the core of our faculty’s work, and your satisfaction is our greatest pursuit. He hoped everyone will continue to provide feedback actively in the future, and the faculty will spare no effort to provide better services and learning experiences for all of you.”

This “Lunch with the Dean” event not only enhanced understanding and communication between professors and students but also injected new vitality and momentum into the development of FED.

        2025年3月11日中午，澳門大學教育學院E33-1045室洋溢著溫馨的氛圍 ，”與院長共進午餐” 活動首次舉辦。院長范良火、副院長 (教學) 孔兆偉與20多名本科生圍坐一堂，就多個議題展開了深入細緻的面對面交流。
 
         在一個多小時的交流中，同學們暢所欲言。課程體系優化、跨學科選修機制、家社團隊建設、海外交流項目適配性、實習安排等話題成為了熱議焦點。范院長認真傾聽每位學生的發言，不時點頭表示贊同，並對相關問題給予積極回應。對於現場無法立即解決的問題，范院長指示相關人員要跟進處理，確保同學們的每一項建議都能得到妥善解決。在活動尾聲，范院長強調：“學生體驗是學院工作的核心，你們的滿意就是我們最大的追求。希望大家今後繼續積極回饋意見，學院將全力以赴為大家提供更好的服務和學習體驗。”
 
         此次“與院長共進午餐”活動，不僅增進了師生之間的瞭解與溝通，更為學院的發展注入新的活力與動力。

FED – Chinese New Year Gathering 2025 for FED House Programme

With the warmth of the spring breeze and the arrival of the Chinese New Year, the Faculty of Education (FED) of the University of Macau (UM) held the “Chinese New Year Gathering 2025 for FED House Programme” on 19 February 2025 in the Learning Commons of FED. More than 100 faculty members and students participated to welcome the Chinese New Year together.

At the beginning of the party, Prof. Lianghuo Fan, Dean of FED delivered a speech, saying that he was very happy to be able to celebrate new year with all, and sent his sincere wishes to the students and faculty members. Dean Fan reviewed the accomplishments of the past year and made special mention of the faculty progress in the global subject rankings, encouraging students to continue to work hard in the new year, to set up role models, and to support each other in making progress. He hoped that students could improve communication and help each other through the big family of faculty, and have a fulfilling and enjoyable learning journey.

Fun-filled game sessions were prepared for the party. The Student Association of the FED organized a Chinese New Year quiz, which was well attended and the winners received exquisite gifts. The performance session was equally exciting, with students from the Student Union presenting a wonderful dance performance, which won a round of applause. At the end of the party, everyone sat together to share the food and communicate with each other warmly, spending this wonderful time together.

This gathering not only deepened the emotional ties between teachers and students, but also further strengthened the cohesion of the FED family. Through this warm and energetic party, everyone communicated with each other, supported each other and welcomed the new year together. We sincerely wish every teacher and student a prosperous career, academic progress and all the best in the Year of the Snake!

        春風送暖，農曆新年如約而至，澳門大學教育學院於2025年2月19日在教育學院學習共享空間舉行了家社新春派對活動，超過100名師生參與，共同迎接新春佳節。

        派對伊始，范良火院長致辭，他表示非常高興能夠第一次與大家共度新春，向在場的師生們送上誠摯的祝福。范院長回顧了過去一年的成就，並特別提到學院在全球學科排名上的進步，鼓勵同學們在新的一年裏繼續努力，設立榜樣，彼此支持，共同進步。他希望同學們能夠通過學院這個大家庭，增進交流、互相幫助，度過一個充實而愉快的學習旅程。

        派對上，大家準備了充滿趣味的遊戲環節。教育學院學生會組織了新春問答活動，參與者踴躍，優勝者獲得了精美禮品。表演環節同樣精彩紛呈，學生會的同學們帶來了精彩的舞蹈表演，贏得了陣陣掌聲。派對最後，大家圍坐在一起共用美食，熱烈交流，共度這段美好的時光。
