CKYC Activity: Exploring the “Bat cave” of Macau

In Macau, where Eastern and Western cultures blend, there are many hidden gems, one of which is the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Ka Ho, along with the nearby village of Our Lady. This site is steeped in historical charm and religious significance. Additionally, the nearby Bat Cave coastline offers an exciting natural adventure for the students who love exploration. CKYC teachers and students have enjoyed an unforgettable visit to this remarkable location on 1st March.

The village of Our Lady consists of the former Ka Ho Leprosy Hospital, the chapel, and associated buildings, witnessing over 400 years of medical development and humanitarian evolution. One building recreates the treatment and living conditions of leprosy patients, allowing students and teachers to gain a deeper understanding of that historical period.

The Bat Cave coastline is undoubtedly a unique destination. The journey along the coastline to explore the Bat Cave is filled with temptation and is not easy, requiring navigation through rocky terrain and sometimes even crawling. However, it is these challenging sections that make the adventure more thrilling and meaningful. Through this activity, participants not only learned about history and nature but also realized that every challenge is an opportunity for personal growth.
