【Activity Review】Student Leadership Training Programme: “The Scam Games: Don’t Get Fooled!” has successfully completed
With scams becoming more common these days, members of the Student Leadership Training Programme (SLP) specially organized the “Anti-Scam Knowledge Challenge” event to enhance student’s ability to recognize various fraudulent schemes. Through engaging and interactive games, the activity helped participants identify different scam methods while raising awareness. The event was held in the E4 Corridor on March 27, 2025, attracting over a hundred students.
The activity featured four fun and interactive stations: The “Matching Game” required students to correctly pair common scam types with their corresponding tactics, strengthening systematic understanding; the “Quick Response” game tested instant reflexes with practical questions covering phishing website identification and suspicious call responses; the “Spotting the Difference” game trained observation skills by identifying discrepancies in scam-related images; and finally, the “Anti-Scam Video Workshop” showcased the latest real-life scam cases to deepen risk awareness. Participants who completed all stations will be given 10 CS Points in Responsible Citizenship and qualified for a guaranteed lucky draw.
The activity offered attractive prizes, including Herschel cardholders, McDonald’s MOP$10 vouchers, and snacks and drinks. Many students found that the gamified learning approach made it easier to understand key principles like avoiding unfamiliar links and being cautious about sharing personal information. The instant feedback from Q&A sessions helped clear up misunderstandings about scams. Members of SLP also stated that the event aimed to encourage habits like staying alert and checking information through multiple sources. This way, students may quickly apply what they learned in suspicious situations, reducing the risk of fraud.
The Student Leadership Training Programme was established in 2020 with the aim of nurturing and developing students’ leadership qualities through different activities and training and enhancing their self-confidence, communication, and independent thinking skills. Programme members are required to organise theme-based activities by the end of the semester. For details about the programme, please browse https://go.um.edu.mo/b2f9wuct.
