MCM College: Mastering Surveys – Designing Questions and Avoiding Pitfalls

On 16th April, 2025, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau invited college affiliate, Dr. Fu Chen, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education, to host a lecture titled “Mastering Surveys”.
Dr. Chen delved into the key principles of survey design, emphasizing how to formulate well-structured and unbiased questions to obtain meaningful and accurate responses. He also detailed various question formats, response scales, and common pitfalls that could lead to bias or misinterpretation, analyzing some flawed survey questions through real-life examples. He pointed out that
“Designing an effective survey is not just about asking questions; it requires careful planning, clear objectives, and an understanding of how question wording and structure can influence responses.”
By learning best practices in question design, participants acquired the skills to create surveys that generate reliable and high-quality data.
2025年4月16日，澳門大學滿珍紀念書院邀請教育學院助理教授兼非駐院教員陳孚博士主持了一場題為「精通問卷設計」的講座。
陳博士深入探討了問卷設計的關鍵原則，強調如何制定結構合理且公正的問題，以獲取有意義且準確的回答。他還詳細介紹了不同的問題形式、回答量表，以及可能導致偏差或誤解的常見陷阱，並通過實際案例分析了一些不完善的調查問題。他指出：
「設計一份有效的調查問卷不僅僅是提出問題，它需要仔細的計劃、明確的目標，以及對問題措辭和結構如何影響回答的理解。」
通過了解問卷設計的最佳實踐，參加者掌握了創建能夠生成可靠及高品質資料的問卷的技能。
