On May 21 2025, the Faculty of Education (FED) at the University of Macau held the 2024/2025 Year-end Meeting and 2025/2026 First Meeting of School Representatives on Teaching Practice at Tin Ka Ping Lecture Hall of FED. Around 30 Macao school representatives attended the event.
Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean of FED delivered the opening remarks. He emphasized the college’s commitment to sustainable development in educational philosophy, reaffirmed its dedication to Macao’s educational initiatives, and called for strengthened collaboration between the faculty and schools to ensure the effective implementation of teaching internship programs. Prof. Chun Wai FAN, Assistant Dean (School Engagements and External Relations) and Director of the Centre for Information and Communication Technology in Education provided a systematic overview of the objectives and implementation frameworks for teaching internships, along with a detailed explanation of the new academic year’s plans and intern allocation strategies.
Prof. Tien Ping HSIANG, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education (Primary) highlighted the foundational competencies, language proficiency, and teaching capabilities of primary education students. She recommended that partner schools enhance interns’ integration of theory and practice by opening up teaching research activities and increasing classroom practice opportunities. Prof. Keang-ieng VONG, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education (Pre-Primary) showcased the distinctive curriculum and practical teaching achievements of the pre-primary education program and we will further try to make an accurate match between the actual needs of school and expertise of interns.
During the meeting, school representatives commended the faculty’s high-quality internship training. They particularly noted that this year’s interns demonstrated strong professional foundations and dedication, excelling in roles such as classroom assistance and event planning. Representatives suggested further strengthening interns’ classroom management and public speaking skills through initiatives like simulated teaching workshops and teaching case studies to boost their professional competitiveness. The faculty’s professors responded positively to these proposals, engaging in constructive dialogue to deepen collaborative mechanisms.
The meeting laid a solid foundation for the upcoming academic year’s teaching internship programs through a dynamic interplay of outcomes review and forward-looking planning.
