UM residential college members visit top UK universities for exchange
A group of students and faculty members from Lui Che Woo College (LCWC) at the University of Macau joined an 11-day study trip to the UK, during which they visited leading universities including the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, and Imperial College London for academic exchanges. Students said that the trip had broadened their global perspectives, enhanced their cross-cultural understanding, confidence, and resilience, and set new benchmarks for their personal growth and career development.
The trip was supported by the University of Macau Development Foundation. The group, which consisted of 16 LCWC members, stayed at the University of Cambridge and visited the University of Oxford and Imperial College London. The study trip was an immersive international learning experience offered by LCWC to cultivate future leaders with a global perspective, and was closely aligned with the seven competencies promoted by UM’s residential college system.
During their stay, LCWC members took part in a series of activities at Clare Hall at the University of Cambridge. They attended a talk by Prof Alan Short, president of Clare Hall; the annual cricket match; a formal dinner; and workshops on career development and artificial intelligence. They also visited the Cambridge Judge Business School to gain an insight into college life in the UK.
At the University of Oxford, the group was warmly received by students and faculty of Oriel College. They engaged in discussions to learn more about the historic college and its surroundings. At Imperial College London, the group participated in academic activities and toured the campus with student and faculty members. They also visited iconic cultural landmarks such as the British Museum to learn about the country’s rich cultural heritage.
