On September 10, 2025, staff and students from the Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College and Choi Kai Yau College of the University of Macau visited the Legislative Assembly simulation polling station at the Macao Forum for an educational tour. The activity aimed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the electoral system and procedures of the Macao Legislative Assembly, enhancing their awareness and engagement in public affairs.
At the simulation polling station, staff members provided a detailed explanation of the legal framework, voting rules, and vote-counting procedures of the Macao Legislative Assembly elections, as well as recent improvements to the electoral system. The faculty and students listened attentively, actively asked questions, and created a lively atmosphere of interaction. Subsequently, they personally experienced the simulated voting process, replicating every step of a real election—from identity verification and ballot collection to marking and casting votes. The activity concluded with a group photo taken at the polling station.
The participating students expressed that through this immersive experience, they gained a clearer understanding of the procedures for the official Macao Legislative Assembly election scheduled for September 14. A first-year student shared, “Although I just turned 18 and am unable to vote in this year’s election, this learning experience has deeply impressed upon me the importance of elections. I have already encouraged my family and friends to actively exercise their voting rights on the 14th and participate in this crucial election concerning Macao’s future.”
Organizing such activities on the eve of the election was highly meaningful, as it not only helped students master practical voting skills but also fostered their sense of political participation. In the future, the colleges will continue to carry out related civic education activities to cultivate outstanding citizens with a sense of responsibility and engagement.
With the Macao Legislative Assembly election approaching on September 14, this simulated voting experience provided young students with a valuable practical opportunity and is expected to further enhance citizen participation in this year’s election.
