MCM College: MCMC Freshmen Cup – Badminton Competition

On 7^th September, 2025, Guia House of Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau, hosted an exciting badminton competition at the N8 Sports Complex, drawing enthusiastic participation from all five Houses. The event showcased not only athletic talent but also the strong sense of community and teamwork among students. The competition was divided into two stages. Preliminary round featured a round-robin format across three categories: women’s doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s doubles. Based on overall performance, the top two teams advanced to the championship match, while the third and fourth teams competed for third place. The final round added two more categories — men’s singles and women’s singles — with the overall winner determined by the total score across all five events.

Students wore bright yellow college shirts, which brought a vibrant energy to the venue. Matches attracted a large crowd of supporters who cheered passionately for their respective Houses. In the third-place match, Dom Pedro V House took an early lead in the singles events. Mandarin House showed remarkable determination, narrowing the score gap to single digits in the final stages. However, Dom Pedro V House held on to win 93–82 and secured third place. The championship match between Guia House and St. Paul House was even more intense. Guia House surged ahead in the middle of the match, eventually winning 90–74 to claim the championship title, while St. Paul House earned a well-deserved second place.

After the competition ended, Associate College Master, Dr. Manuel Noronha  presented certificates to all participating Houses, marking a successful end to the event. Students not only enjoyed a thrilling competition but also had the opportunity to exchange skills and build friendships across Houses. Regardless of skill level, players encouraged one another and worked closely in doubles matches to earn points for their teams — a true reflection of the College’s emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.
