Scam Calls from Impersonating Family Members and Friends
- Scammers would call and ask the victim to guess their identities (e.g., can you guess who I am?), impersonating the victim’s family members or friends.
- Some scammers can even tell the victim’s name or nickname.
- The scammer may also claim that he/she has changed his/her regular phone number, and would ask the victim to save the new number.
- Afterwards, the scammer will call the victim again, requesting money for some urgent reasons.
- Finally, the scammer may arrange someone else to collect the money from the victim, or send a QR code to the victim for receiving money with a designated account.
