To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau, in collaboration with the Macao Association for Historical Education and the Oral History Association of Macao, jointly held a lecture and campus exhibition titled “Flames of Loyalty: Portraits of Macao’s Wartime Heroes” on the afternoon of 8^th October, 2025, at the college hall. The event attracted around 60 faculty members and students.

The event began with an opening speech by Prof. Cheung Kwok-cheung, the College Master of Moon Chun Memorial College, who expressed deep respect for the spirit of wartime heroes and emphasized the importance of passing on this spirit to today’s youth. The ribbon-cutting ceremony was jointly hosted by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Pan Wei (Faculty of Social Sciences), Dean of Student Affairs Mr. Pang Chap Chong, Director of Centre for Chinese History and Culture Prof. Zhang Yan, President of the Oral History Association of Macao Prof. Jiang Chun, and Vice President of the Macao History Education Society Ng Sin Man. College Fellow, Alice Hong then introduced the service philosophy and signature activities of the Student Workgroup for the Enhancement of Affection for Home Country, followed by a music video presentation that helped attendees better understand the original intentions behind the events.

The highlight of the event was the lecture by Prof. Jiang Chun titled “Flames of Loyalty: Portraits of Macao’s Wartime Heroes”. Through vivid storytelling and precious historical materials, Prof. Jiang guided the audience in revisiting the heroic deeds of Macao’s wartime heroes, inspiring students to reflect on and engage with history. After the lecture, Prof. Jiang personally introduced the exhibition panels to the guests, further elaborating on the stories and contributions of the wartime heroes. An interactive booth titled “More About Macao’s Wartime Heroes” was also set up by the Student Workgroup for the Enhancement of Affection for Home Country. The quiz-style game aimed to enhance students’ understanding and engagement with the exhibition in a fun and educational way.

The event also received support and attendance from several college masters and non-resident fellows, including CYTC College Master Prof. Wong Seng Fat, CKLC Master Prof. Wong Man Chung, CKYC Master Prof. Leung May Yee, SPC Master Prof. Tam Sik Chung, HFPJC Master Prof. Hui Sai-chuen, as well as fellows from the Faculty of Science and Technology and Faculty of Law. Notably, members of the University of Macau National Flag Team also participated in this event, expressing their deep respect and support for the spirit of the War of Resistance through concrete actions. Through this lecture and exhibition, Moon Chun Memorial College hopes to deepen students’ understanding of Macao’s wartime history and further cultivate their patriotic sentiments and sense of social responsibility, ensuring that the spirit of resistance continues to be passed down and remains ever-relevant.
