On October 16, 2025, a delegation from the School of Mathematical Sciences of East China Normal University (ECNU) visited the Faculty of Education (FED) of the University of Macau (UM) to strengthen academic exchange and explore potential collaboration between two institutions. The ECNU delegation was led by Prof. Changhong LV, Assistant to the President of ECNU and Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences; Prof. Pan JIA, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee; Prof. Tao CHENG, Associate Dean; Prof. Delong LIN, Undergraduate Education Administrator; and Ms. Hongyan ZHANG, Office Director of the School of Mathematical Sciences.

The delegation first met with Prof. Xinrong YANG, Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education (Mathematics) and Subject Convenor of the Master of Philosophy in Education (Mathematics Education) of FED. They were joined by three ECNU students majoring in Mathematics Education who are currently on exchange at UM. Both sides engaged in an in-depth discussion about curriculum design, programme structure, pedagogical approaches, and the similarities and differences in study and campus life between the two universities. The students also shared their experiences and reflections on their exchange learning in Macao.

Following the meeting, the ECNU delegation had a formal discussion with the Faculty of Education’s leadership team, including Prof. Lianghuo FAN, Dean and Director of the Centre for STEM and AI Education; Prof. Dongbo ZHANG, Associate Dean (Teaching and Curriculum Development) and Programme Coordinator of the Doctor of Education; Prof. Zhaowei KONG, Director of the Centre for Arts and Physical Education and Subject Convenor of the Master of Philosophy in Education (Education and Sport Studies); and Prof. Yang GONG , Programme Coordinator of the Bachelor of Education (Chinese) and Subject Convenor of the Master of Philosophy in Education (Chinese Education).

During the meeting, both parties exchanged views on teacher education, student exchange, research collaboration, and talent development. They also discussed opportunities to deepen cooperation in curriculum innovation, research supervision, and experiential learning. Both sides expressed a strong commitment to building a long-term partnership to promote academic collaboration and the mutual development of educational disciplines.

At the end, the two parties exchanged souvenirs as a gesture of friendship and appreciation. The visit successfully enhanced mutual understanding between UM and ECNU, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation in teaching, research, and talent cultivation.
