滿珍紀念書院:澳大心理健康推廣月─《幸運閣》電影放映及分享會
In response to the University of Macau’s Mental Health Awareness Month, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau (UM) and UM Student Affairs Office co-hosted a screening and sharing session of the film “Revisit” on the evening of 9th October, 2025, at the Student Activity Centre Theatre. The event attracted a large number of faculty and students. Centered around the film “Revisit”, the event used a touching story about family, love, and choices to inspire deep reflection on the meaning of “happiness.” The film tells the story of Oli, a freelancer working in Beijing, who returns to Macao due to her grandmother’s illness. At the “Fortune Court” she rekindles the bond with her grandmother and faces a difficult choice between career and family. The film was nominated for “Best Directorial Debut” at the 38th Golden Rooster Awards and lead actress Cherry Ngan was also honored for her outstanding performance, wining the “Best Performance Award” at the 34th Woods Hole Film Festival in the United States this August, drawing significant attention.
The event began with opening remarks by Prof. Kwok-cheung Cheung, Master of MCMC. Since 2020, the college has organized a series of mental health awareness activities during October, aiming to cultivate students’ healthy lifestyle competency. Prof. Cheung emphasized, “True happiness does not come from external possessions, but from inner peace and connection”. After the screening, a post-film discussion was held, moderated by College Fellow, Alice Hong. Guest speakers included psychotherapist Dr. Elvo Sou, director of “Revisit” Harriet Wong, and actress Cheung Wai Hing. Together, they engaged the audience in a deep exploration of the question: “What is happiness?”, Director Wong shared that the inspiration behind her film stemmed from the deep emotional bond she had with her grandmother. During the creative process, she also re-examined the sources and expressions of happiness in the older generation. Ms. Cheung spoke about the close connection between happiness and family relationships, encouraging everyone to treat one another with understanding and acceptance to bridge the gap between generations. Finally, Dr. Sou shared his life philosophy, stating, “A happy life is not about making the right decisions, but about making your decisions right. Only then can we reduce internal conflict and move through live with greater ease”
The event received support from many distinguished guests, including Dean of Student Affairs Mr. Paul Pang, Head of Student Counselling Section and Psychotherapist, Dr. Elvo Sou, as well as several non-resident fellows and affiliates. The atmosphere was warm and sincere, with enthusiastic audience participation reflecting strong interest in mental health topics. At the end of the event, participants received “fortune cookies” symbolizing blessings and took group photos in front of the backdrop, bringing a heartfelt and inspiring evening to a perfect close. The event not only provided students with a space for emotional expression and self-exploration, but also promoted greater awareness and support for mental health on campus through film and dialogue.
