On 20^th November, 2025, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau and the Association for the Promotion of Public Legal Awareness jointly organized a sharing session titled “Lighting Up Society with Law.” The event featured two keynote speakers:  Mr. Vong Keng Hei, President of Macao Legal Exchange and Promotion Association and Senior Lawyer, and Mr. Lam Wa Kit, Vice President and Senior Lawyer. They explored in depth how to integrate legal expertise with community service and shared their practical experiences and insights.

Prof. Kwok-cheung Cheung, Master of Moon Chun Memorial College stated that this event is an important part of the college’s “My Career Story” series, aiming at helping students develop sound work values and a sense of social responsibility through sharing by industry experts. The event was also attended by Mr. Mak Heng Ip, President of the Association for the Promotion of Public Legal Awareness and Senior Lawyer, Mr. Lee Kin Kei, Chairman of the Board, and Ms. Alice Hong, Resident Fellow. The session attracted enthusiastic participation from law students and students from other faculties.

Drawing on years of practice, Lawyer Wong shared how legal expertise can be extended to community service. He emphasized that the value of legal professionals lies not only in their professional competence but also in their contributions to society. He recounted his experiences in grassroots legal consultations and public legal education activities, highlighting the importance of using legal knowledge to serve the community. Lawyer Lam, from the perspective of a new-generation legal professional, shared his early-career exploration of the value of the legal profession. He pointed out that contemporary lawyers need not only professional proficiency but also humanistic care and social responsibility, actively practicing under the guidance of senior mentors.

During the interactive session, students expressed that the two lawyers’ sharing gave them a profound understanding of the breadth and depth of the legal profession, as well as the responsibility and warmth that legal professionals should embody. This event not only imparted professional experience but also underscored the social mission borne by legal practitioners, injecting new momentum into cultivating socially conscious legal talent in Macao.
