MCM College: Camões House Brings Students Together for Eco-Friendly Clothing Swap
MCM College: Casa Camões Reúne Estudantes para Troca Sustentável de Roupas
On Saturday, 17th January, 2026, Camões House hosted its first Clothing Swap Party. The unique event, which welcomed students across collegiate community, emphasized the importance of sustainable practices: demonstrating how simple actions like exchanging clothes can reduce waste and benefit the planet.
Participants arrived with garments which they no longer used, and left with new pieces, experiencing firsthand the joy of giving clothes a new lease of life. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming. Everyone enjoyed themselves in a lively atmosphere with snacks, and music played throughout the evening. The event offered a relaxed space for meeting new people and building new friendships.
The Clothing Swap Party highlighted both environmental awareness and social connection. Students expressed happiness at finding new clothes while also recognizing the sense of responsibility that comes with contributing to a greener future. ‘Leftover garments’ were collected and donated to a local organization, extending the impact of the activity beyond the event itself.
Camões House continues to promote meaningful, student-led initiatives that combine sustainability, community engagement, and cultural exchange, reinforcing our commitment to responsible citizenship and social responsibility.
“I’m so excited to be at my first Clothing Swap in Macau! This really takes me back to my work with an EU project called CirculART-e, where we united creative minds from across Europe around art and sustainability. One of our favorite projects was hosting a Swap Party. Now, having those great memories and experiences, it makes me incredibly happy to see this sustainable activity catching on here in Macau and I hope it continues.”

No sábado, 17 de janeiro de 2026, a Casa de Camões promoveu a sua primeira Festa de Troca de Roupas. O evento especial, que recebeu estudantes de toda a comunidade académica, enfatizou a importância de práticas sustentáveis: demonstrando como ações simples, como trocar roupas, podem reduzir o desperdício e beneficiar o planeta.
Os participantes chegaram com peças que já não usavam e foram embora com novas aquisições, experimentando na prática a alegria de dar uma nova vida às roupas. A atmosfera foi animada e acolhedora. Todos se divertiram num ambiente agradável, com petiscos, e música tocando durante toda a noite. O evento ofereceu um espaço descontraído para conhecer novas pessoas e criar novas amizades.
A Festa de Troca de Roupas destacou tanto a consciência ambiental quanto a ligação social. Os estudantes demonstraram alegria por encontrar roupas novas, reconhecendo também o sentimento de responsabilidade associado à contribuição para um futuro mais verde. As “roupas remanescentes” foram recolhidas e doadas a uma organização local.
A Casa de Camões continua a promover iniciativas significativas lideradas por estudantes que combinam sustentabilidade, envolvimento comunitário e intercâmbio cultural, reforçando o nosso compromisso com a cidadania responsável e a responsabilidade social.

Isto faz-me recordar o meu trabalho num projeto da UE chamado CirculART-e, onde reunimos mentes criativas de toda a Europa em torno da arte e da sustentabilidade. Agora, tendo essas ótimas memórias e experiências, fico imensamente feliz por ver esta atividade sustentável a ganhar espaço aqui em Macau e espero que continue.”
