MCM College: “Life Simulation” Board Game Workshop

On 28th January, 2026, Moon Chun Memorial College, University of Macau held a “Life Simulation” Board Game Workshop in collaboration with Macao Career Development Association, attracting thirty enthusiastic student participants. The workshop used immersive, scenario-based board game activities to guide participants through a simulated life journey in which they make various decisions, prompting reflection on personal values, life direction, and career planning. The overall atmosphere was relaxed yet inspiring.
The workshop was conducted in small groups, each led by a facilitator who had received professional certification in career planning education. Through the interactive board game, participants took on different life roles and faced events involving career, relationships, finances, and major life decisions. Within the constraints of limited resources and multiple choices, they were required to formulate strategies, an experience that not only challenged their critical thinking and decision‑making abilities but also encouraged them to explore core questions such as “What kind of life do I want to live?”
As an engaging medium, board games allow participants to reflect on high‑stakes life decisions within a low‑risk environment. By experiencing different choices and outcomes, participants were able to see diverse possibilities and gain deeper awareness and understanding of their future direction.
Student Reflections:
“This workshop offered us a world completely different from our daily campus life, one filled with marriage, childbirth, career development, and even debt. It allowed us to truly see an adult world that is much closer to reality. At the same time, it reminded us that in the long journey of life, adversity can still turn into opportunity. Energy and money are often hard to have at the same time, and balancing family and career requires intention and effort. These life lessons made me realize that life actually allows for many mistakes, and the path ahead of us is far broader than we imagine.” — Caroline Miao
“I deeply realized that when we pursue higher life goals, we often must take on the risks that come with them. If we want additional ‘passive income,’ we must bravely take that first step. Choosing the right business partners can provide confidence and support at critical moments. Life is the same, risks and rewards coexist. In moments full of uncertainty, the partners around you become especially precious. they cheer for you when you succeed, and when you struggle, they reach out a helping hand and walk through challenges with you. ” — Elara Wang
“In this workshop, I participated in scenarios like ‘buying stocks’ and ‘investing in a business’ through card draws and dice rolls. It made me deeply feel that life is like the cards and dice in a game, always full of unexpected changes, with luck playing a key role. Interestingly, even in seemingly unfavorable situations, good outcomes may appear out of nowhere, making me realize that life is full of turning points.” — Elosia Wang
