CCE Collaborated with HKU SPACE to Launch a Training Course on Mathematical Decision and Management Science for students from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics
The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continuing Education (HKU SPACE), jointly organized a training program for students from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA) from February 2 to 7, 2026. The training topic was “Mathematical Decision and Management Science” with all 40 participating students from the Airport Operations and Management program at NUAA’s College of Civil Aviation.
The six-day training was conducted in both Hong Kong and Macao, consisting of a series of thematic lectures with rich teaching content, delivered entirely in English. The topics covered “From Reactive to Proactive: Technology-Driven Asset Management for Infrastructure Systems”, “Technology-Enabled Pathways to Urban Sustainability through Green Transportation”, “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence: Logic in Computer Science and Database Systems”, “Introduction to Programming for Data Science” and “Game Theory in Artificial Intelligence”. At the closing ceremony, Professor Matthew LIU, Director of CCE, remarked that through this Hong Kong-Macao dual-city learning model, students experienced the distinctive characteristics of both cities as well as teaching styles that differ from those in Chinese mainland, and he welcomed them to return for future exchange and learning opportunities in Hong Kong and Macao.
Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics was established in October 1952 and is one of the first aeronautical higher education institutions founded by the People’s Republic of China. In 1978, it was designated as a National Key University by the State Council. In 1981, it became one of the first universities in China authorized to confer doctoral degrees by the State Council. In 1996, it was included in the national “Project 211.” In 2000, it was approved by the Ministry of Education to establish a graduate school. In 2011, it became a key university under the “Project 985 Innovation Platform for Dominant Disciplines.” In 2017, it entered the national “Double First-Class” initiative, with three disciplines—Aeronautical and Astronautical Science and Technology, Mechanics, and Control Science and Engineering—selected for the second round of “First-Class Disciplines” construction. The university is currently under the administration of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. In 2018 and 2023, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the Ministry of Education, and Jiangsu Province signed agreements on two occasions to jointly build NUAA.
This training program marks another collaboration with HKU SPACE. Through cross-city academic exchange, it continues to promote the development of a new model of continuing education cooperation within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. UM CCE will continue to develop more high-quality training programs to foster exchange and cooperation between outstanding higher education institutions in Chinese mainland and the University of Macau.
