On 6^th February 2026, Mandarin House of Moon Chun Memorial College at the University of Macau hosted a “Chinese New Year Cantonese” Mini-Class led by Resident Tutor, Evelyn Liang. The session offered an engaging and immersive experience for beginners of Cantonese and enthusiasts of Lingnan culture.

The class integrated language learning with historical context and cultural insights, providing a concise introduction to the evolution of Cantonese, its phonetic features, and its cultural significance. Through fun interactive games, participants quickly learned to express Chinese New Year greetings in Cantonese. Students also gained an understanding of traditional Guangdong Spring Festival customs, deepening their appreciation of festive culture in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao region.

To conclude the event, participants joined a traditional intangible cultural heritage activity—rubbing art, creating their own handcrafted festive souvenirs and transforming cultural learning into tangible works. Everyone then recorded Cantonese New Year greeting videos together with their creations, leaving behind warm and memorable festive moments.
