CKPC MTW Completes WEA Outdoor Leadership Experience Course

From March 14 to 15, 2026, participants of the Chao Kuang Piu College Me to We Leadership Adventure Program (MTW) took part in the Outdoor Leadership Experience (OLE) course offered by the Wilderness Education Association (WEA). Led by outdoor instructors, the group completed a two-day, one-night hiking trip in Sai Kung West Country Park in Hong Kong, gaining practical experience in outdoor leadership.

The course covered topics including risk assessment and preparation for hiking, map and compass navigation, itinerary planning, and the “structure, function, use, and maintenance” of outdoor equipment. During the hike, participants applied these skills in real time by rotating through key leadership roles: leader (managing the group and delegating tasks), navigator (determining direction and identifying potential risks), and sweep (ensuring group safety and overall condition). Through this role rotation, students developed a better understanding of the responsibilities involved in each position, gained hands-on experience in decision-making and team management, and recognized the importance of communication and coordination among team members.

“Service and Leadership” and “Team Work & Collaboration” are the core values of the Chao Kuang Piu College Me to We Leadership Adventure Program. Through this course, students put these principles into practice, reflected on their experiences, and connected what they learned to everyday life — equipping themselves to navigate a range of situations in the future.
