【Activity Review】Student Leadership Training Programme: “Small City, Big Potential · Macau” Successfully Completed
To help students and staff gain a deeper understanding of Macau’s unique role and development potential in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA), members of the Student Leadership Training Programme (SLP) organised the “Small City, Big Potential · Macau” themed activity on 1 April 2026 at the E4 Corridor, attracting nearly 60 current students and working professionals.
An information display board was set up at the venue, introducing Macau’s three major roles in the GBA as a “centre, platform, and base”, as well as its emerging industries including traditional Chinese medicine, modern finance, high-tech industries, and Convention and Exhibition Culture. Three interactive games were then conducted: “Guess the Place from the Picture” tested participants’ ability to recognise landmarks in Macau and the GBA; the “Knowledge Quiz” used a matching format to cover Macau’s positioning in the GBA and the “1+4” development strategy; and the “Drop-in-the-Box Quiz” adopted a multiple-choice format to integrate various facts about Macau’s role in the GBA.
Participants noted that the game-based format was engaging and effective in enhancing their understanding of Macau’s role in the GBA. A first-year student from the Faculty of Business Administration shared: “I only knew about GBA policies from the news before. The game booth here helped me truly understand Macau’s ‘1+4’ strategy, and I realized it is closely related to my future career path.” In terms of learning outcomes, over 85% of participants were able to answer all questions correctly after viewing the information display, reflecting that the event effectively helped participants grasp Macau’s academic, professional and cultural opportunities.
The Student Leadership Training Programme has been offered since 2020. It aims to cultivate students’ leadership qualities, communication skills, and independent thinking through diverse training and event planning. Participants are required to organize themed activities on different topics before the end of the semester.
