CIE Explores Entrepreneurship Paths with DBA Students

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) of the University of Macau (UM) recently hosted an entrepreneurial exchange event on April 12th for the fifth batch of students of the Doctor of Business Administration Program (DBA), in collaboration with Prof. Xiaoqing Fu, the head of the program. Under the warm reception of Prof. Elaine Leung, the Head of the Centre, the teachers and students visited the National Co-working Space and Hap On Aromatherapy Exploration Hall.

This year’s DBA students from diverse industries across the country, including high-tech, finance and accounting, cultural tourism, medical and pharmaceuticals, catering management, and construction engineering. These students are all executives and distinguished figures in their respective fields. Additionally, CIE invited representatives from three exceptional incubating enterprises to share their entrepreneurial experiences and achievements on-site, further enriching the DBA students’ understanding of UM’s progress in translating research into practical applications.

Prof. Jun Yu, the Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), also attended the visit and encouraged DBA students to actively engage in UM’s innovation and entrepreneurship development, fostering a solid foundation for future communication and collaboration between the Centre and the FBA.

This successful exchange meeting has established a communication bridge between the CIE and the FBA, facilitating cooperation in innovation and entrepreneurship. Both parties are committed to jointly nurturing talents and promoting the transformation of research achievements into practical applications. Moving forward, DBA students are encouraged to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys and become resident companies in the center, where they can also serve as incubation judges, entrepreneurship mentors, and consultants, sharing their valuable business experiences, thus contributing to the development of innovation and entrepreneurship at UM.

澳大創新創業中心（中心）於4月12日邀請工商管理博士課程主任傅曉青教授和第五期學員們蒞臨交流參訪，在中心主任梁麗嫻教授熱情接待下，師生們到國家級衆創空間及合安中醫香療體驗館參觀考察。更與中心入駐公司代表就目前大灣區創新創業環境、投融資策略，以及行業未來發展前景等議題及進行了深入的討論。

本屆的工商管理博士生來自全國各地不同行業，當中包括：高新科技、金融會計、文化旅遊、醫療製藥、餐飲管理及建築工程等，每位皆是其行業之高管及翹楚。中心亦邀請了三家優秀孵化企業之代表到現場分享介紹其創業歷程及成果，使師生們深度了解澳大在產學研成果轉化上的發展情況。考察期間工商管理學院院長余俊教授亦來到現場，鼓勵博士生們積極參與澳大創新創業發展，為促進日後中心與工商管理學院的交流合作奠定了堅實的基礎。

是次交流會之成功舉辦，為中心與工商管理學院在創新創業合作上搭建了溝通的橋樑，使雙方能共同培養促進產學研成果轉化的人才。未來，中心將邀請專業對口的工商管理博士生加入國家級衆創空間，擔任入駐項目評委、創業導師及顧問，分享其商業經驗。同時亦歡迎博士生們投身創業之路，成爲中心的入駐公司，共同為澳門大學創新創業發展作出貢獻。

CIE Holds Regular Incubation Recruitment Roadshow

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) successfully organized the recruitment roadshow for the regular incubation program for the second semester of the 2023-2024 academic year on March 15. Under the leadership of Professor Elaine Leung, the Head of CIE, a selection committee composed of prominent figures from the Greater Bay Area’s science and technology investment industry reviewed 11 projects. With diverse projects from industries such as great health, microelectronics, fintech, and cultural creativity, the roadshow showcased the endless possibilities of innovation at the University of Macau (UM) in various fields.

The roadshow adopted a format that combined project presentations with a Q&A session with the selection committee. In addition, a representative from Gobi Partners GBA was invited as a guest judge. The selection committee conducted comprehensive evaluations of each project’s core technology, business model, and market prospects through online and offline assessment.

A total of 11 projects have been invited to participate in the roadshow, including 7 Category C projects in the field of medical and biotechnology, 3 Category B projects in new materials, environmental protection, and microelectronics, and 1 Category A project in culture and creativity. The roadshow highlighted the vibrant entrepreneurial atmosphere at UM and showcased the creativity and capabilities of young entrepreneurs. CIE will continue to provide comprehensive support to the incubated projects, assisting them in achieving commercialization and sustainable development.

The results of the incubation selection will be announced in early April. Project leaders are advised to closely follow the notifications from CIE.

澳門大學創新創業中心於2024年3月15日舉辦了2023-2024學年第二學期恆常入駐招募路演。在中心主任梁麗嫻教授的領導下，由各大灣區科創投資行業之翹楚組成的遴選委員會為11個項目進行評審工作。多元化的項目內容來自大健康、微電子、金融科技，以及文化創意等產業，展示了澳大創新精神在不同領域的無限可能性。

是次路演遴選採取項目內容介紹及結合評委問答環節之形式，由中心主任梁麗嫻教授領導之遴選委員會進行評審工作，同時亦邀請了戈壁大灣區基金的代表作爲客席嘉賓評審。遴選委員會通過線上和線下方式對每個項目的核心技術、商業模型、市場前景等進行了全面的評估。

本期遴選共有11個項目獲得路演邀請資格，當中包括7個C類醫療及生物科技類項目、3個B類新材料、環保及微電子類項目，以及1個A類文化與創意類項目。是次初創項目路演展示了澳門大學蓬勃的雙創氛圍，以及年輕創業者們的創意和實力。創新創業中心將繼續爲項目入駐者提供全方位的支持，幫助他們實現項目的商業化和可持續發展。

創業者在經營其商業企業的過程當中，必定會面對不少的法律問題，尤其是把創業項目融合到粵港澳大灣區發展時，更要面臨著因各個地域上法律制度差異所帶來的挑戰。創業者必須瞭解及遵守有關的法律法規，以確保其自身的利益及其創業項目能夠營運得井然有序。

Recruitment of CIE Incubation Teams (Deadline: 2024/1/31)

  • Objective  

The UM is recruiting innovative entrepreneurial teams for intensive incubation at the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship. After the committee assessment, the Centre will provide the incubation teams with appropriate advice from entrepreneurial guidance at the initial stage to regular expert consultations. The Centre may also offer incubation teams with temporary office spaces, meeting rooms, and office facilities. The UM will actively assist the teams through the Centre in seeking every possible internal and external entrepreneurship funding, investment and assistance, including from fund institutions, companies or investors, applications for incubation and start-up funds from relevant incubation bases, recommendation and sponsorship in participating innovation and entrepreneurship competitions hosted by various regions. We expected their creative projects could be successfully converted into commercial products or services during the period of incubation.

  • Target

At least one member of a team must have a connection with the University of Macau. All current students, alumni, and current staff are eligible to apply. One team must also have at least one Macao permanent resident.

**Remarks: those who are determined to violate the rules of the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship are not eligible for incubation for two years.

  • Team Selection and Criteria

The selection of incubation teams will be conducted by the Incubation Team Selection Committee, which is composed of professionals outside and/or inside UM. Through the business proposal and interview, the Committee will examine and select the appropriate teams to incubate. The basic selection focuses on creativity, originality, and potential benefits to society in terms of business and culture. Cross-discipline and cross-faculty innovative ideas are encouraged for applications.

大學正招募銳意創業的團隊，通過委員會評估和審批，讓合乎標準的團隊入駐創新創業中心，為其提供適切的孵化指導，從前期的創業諮詢建議，到定期的專家輔導等；更可為團隊提供短暫的辦公室空間、會客室及配備辦公室設施。大學將透過創新創業中心，積極協助各入駐團隊爭取對接校內及校外各種可能的創業資源、投資和協助，當中包括基金機構、公司或投資人投資、相關孵化基地的入駐及起步資金申請、推薦及資助參與各地區主辦的創新創業比賽等。期望他們的創意項目可在入駐期內成功轉化成商業成品或服務。

  • 對象

團隊必須最少一人來自澳門大學，包括在讀學生，校友，教職員工均有資格申請；及必須最少一人為澳門永久性居民。

*備註:被確定違反創新創業中心規則者，兩年內不具獲入駐資格。

  • 入駐團隊遴選標準

遴選程序由校外專業人士與大學教師共同組成的孵化團隊遴選會議（簡稱遴選會 Incubation Team Selection Committee）完成，通過審查創新團隊完成的商業計劃書以及面試表現，重點觀察團隊的創造性、創意性，以及對社會、商業以及文化帶來哪些改變與提高。鼓勵團隊跨學科，跨學院開發創意，申請創新創業中心的資源。

CIE and FDCT jointly held Briefing Sessions on the Start-up Funding Schemes

The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) hosted a briefing session at the UM Guest House (N1) on March 7 to introduce the “Industry-University-Research Matching Program” and the services provided by CIE to the incubation teams. The briefing aimed to help participants understand the FDCT and UM’s support for scientific research development and encourage innovative entities like universities, institutions, and enterprises to collaborate to diversify Macau’s industries. During the event, UM researchers actively raised questions and engaged in discussions about transforming research results into viable businesses.

Che Wai Meng, Chief of the Project Transformation and Support Department of FDCT, along with other representatives, addressed attendees’ concerns regarding the matching program. Elaine Leung Lai Han, Head of CIE and Professor in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Health Sciences, stated in her welcome speech, “The briefing session conducted by FDCT has provided a strong impetus for promoting the transformation of UM’s research achievements and fostering innovation and entrepreneurial development!” The event attracted numerous UM researchers and startup members seeking funding opportunities and ways to transform their findings into practical applications.

As one of the event’s organizers, CIE aims to support and facilitate the transformation of the university’s research results. The centre organizes lectures and exhibitions, and offers consulting and nurturing services for startup projects to assist UM professors and students in overcoming the obstacles of technology implementation.

澳大創新創業中心（CIE）及科學技術發展基金（FDCT）於3月7日假澳門大學N1聚賢樓共同舉辦初創公司資助計劃講解會，向本校師生及初創公司團隊講解“企業產學研配對計劃”之要點及創新創業中心為入駐團隊提供之資助及支援服務，讓與會者了解科技基金及澳大對科技研發及創新創業之支持，引導高校院所、企業等創新主體，促進本澳產業多元化。會上多位本校科研人員積極發問，共同探討科研成果向企業實現轉化的深度合作可能性。

科學技術發展基金項目成果轉化及輔助部高級經理謝偉明及多位代表均出席了是次活動，在講解會中就“企業產學研配對計劃”之相關問題為現場觀眾解惑排憂。澳大創新創業中心主任兼健康科學學院生物醫學系教授梁麗嫻在致歡迎詞時指出：“科學技術發展基金代表親臨澳大開辦講解會，為推動本校科研成果轉化及創新創業發展打下了一支強心針！”是次活動吸引了數十名澳大科研工作者及初創公司成員出席，尋找籌措更多資金及創造成果轉化的機會。

澳大創新創業中心作為是次主辦單位之一，期望通過舉辦不同主題的講座和展覽活動，支持和推動本校的科研成果轉化、為初創項目提供諮詢及培育等支援服務，以協助澳大師生打通技術成果轉化應用的“最後一公里”。
