Activity Highlights

In order to have a better understanding about the new rules and standards of the short weapon (短兵) event, UM Martial Arts Team conducted a martial arts exchange activity in Zhuhai with Prof. Zhang Jianjun (張建軍), who is the founder of the short weapon event. The exchange activity included learning new rules, techniques and training methods of short weapon. Finally, the team practiced with Prof. Zhang and his students. This exchange activity is an opportunity for our students to learn a new event in Martial Arts and enhance their skills.

UM won 1 Silver and 1 Bronze Medals at the “The 2nd Macau University Tchoukball Championship”

“The 2nd Macau University Tchoukball Championship” organized by Macau Universitarian Sports Association, was held on 22 and 29 Mar at Macao Polytechnic University. UMSU Tchoukball Club participated in the competition and finally won the Silver medal in Men’s Group and the Bronze Medal in Women’s Group.

UM Athletes Career and Internship Programme — Sands China Session was held successfully

The “UM Athlete Career and Internship Programme – Sands China Session” was successfully held on 19 Mar. The Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) invited Sands China for this career talk which attracted 21 student-athletes to attend.  The talk included 2 sessions: (1) Company and Job Vacancy Introduce and (2) Q&A. 

Through the talk, students were given a brief overview of the company’s background, employee benefits, and future development which related to sports events. After that, Sands representative introduced current available full time job and internship positions. During the Q&A session, Sands representatives from Human Resource Department answered the student-athletes’ questions about job requirements and responsibilities. 

It was a great opportunity for our student-athletes to know more about the integrated resorts job market and prospects.  They have learned a lot in the activity with positive feedback.

Dear students,
We are delighted to announce that UMSU Sailing Association is once again organizing an exciting sailing experience workshop and we are now accepting registrations! Whether you are a beginner or have some sailing experience, we welcome your participation. In this event, you will have the opportunity to learn the basics of sailing and personally experience the joy of sailing. If you are curious and interested in sailing, don’t miss this opportunity and sign up now!

【UM Athlete Career and Internship Programme】Career Fair for Student-Athletes — SJM Resorts, S.A. Session was held successfully

 “UM Athlete Career and Internship Programme – SJM Resorts, S.A. Session (SJM)” was successfully held on 5 Mar. Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) invited SJM to organize workplace experience at Grand Lisboa Palace Resort Macau (Grand Lisboa Palace) and attracted 13 student-athletes to attend. It included 4 sessions: seminar, room tour, coffee making workshop, and onsite interview. 

Through the seminar, students were given a brief overview of SJM background, current recruitment plan, internship and management traniee programme.

Following the seminar, the students joined a guided tour of the rooms of 2 different hotels, namely Grand Lisboa Palace and The Karl Lagerfeld. Besides showing different design styles and features of each hotel, our students were also briefed on the function required for different positions in the hotels. After the tour, SJM organized a coffee making workshop at Don Alfonso 1890 which was conducted by an experienced barista. He showed the steps of making a cup of pour-over coffee, students enjoyed so much to have a chance to prepare their drinks. Finally, the registered students had an on-site career interview.

It was a great opportunity for our student athletes to learn more about the features of integrated resorts and the important information about the job practices, so that they could stay aware of the market development and enhance competitiveness in their career planning and development upon graduation.

這次的活動十分的充實！首先，SJM 專門為澳大運動員帶來的職業分享會，為我們清晰地梳理了未來職業發展的多種可能性，實用信息滿滿。接着參觀上葡京的三家特色酒店及其配套設施，不僅讓我感受到 SJM 的專業與多元，更像是一場視聽盛宴，開闊了眼界。還有最後的調製咖啡環節，第一次在餐廳裡動手制作手沖咖啡，活動環節緊湊且有趣。以及最後的面試環節更是瞭解到了畢業後留澳工作的可能性。我在輕鬆愉悅的氛圍中獲得了諸多新體驗。感謝澳大體育事務部創造這次難得的機會，也謝謝 SJM 的用心安排。

能夠參加本次活動，我感到非常高興和榮幸。活動的行程安排十分有趣，透過講座、參觀酒店房間及手沖咖啡工作坊，讓我了解SJM的企業文化及工作環境。在活動中，SJM的員工都非常友善，十分熱情地分享自己的經驗和見解。

最讓我印象深刻的環節是即場面試。這不僅是一個求職機會，更是鍛鍊我面試能力的重要平台。特別是在面試中，面試官給予了我寶貴的建議，幫助我如何提升自信，增強了我對未來面試的信心。

我非常感謝澳大提供這樣的平台，讓我們有機會接觸到行業內的優秀企業和專業人士。這次活動讓我受益匪淺，不僅開闊了視野，也讓我對未來的職業發展充滿期待。希望未來能有更多這樣的活動，讓我們繼續學習和成長。

UM Athlete Career and Internship Programme: “Career Training Workshops for UM Athletes” was successfully held

In order to enhance UM student-athletes’ employability and competitiveness, a series of career training workshops was organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) and co-organized by Student Affairs Office (SAO). 59 students participated in 4 workshops, which were held on 8 Jan, 12 & 26 Feb respectively. 

The workshops covered 2 essential topics: Interview Skills and Resume Writing. They were namely:

  • How to prepare for interviews (Cantonese session)
  • Preparing a well-written resume (for job application in Mainland China) 
  • How to prepare for interviews (Mandarin session)
  • Preparing a well-written resume (for job application in Macau) 

The workshops enable the participated students to have professional guidance to improve their resumes and dissect common mistakes on resumes and interviews. It assists students in effectively preparing for their careers before they enter the job market.

Activity Highlights

The “2024-2025 Macau University Swimming Championship” was held on 15 and 22 February at Olympic Sports Centre – Aquatic Centre. It was organized by ADUM (Macau Universitarian Sports Association), sponsored by Sports Bureau, co-organized by Education and Youth Development Bureau and Swimming Association of Macao, China. 

The participating higher education institutions included:

【Sports Games and Activities】UM participated in the 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Students Sports Festival

The 4th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Students Sports Festival, organized by the Physical Education and Sport Development Alliance (粵港澳大灣區學生體育與發展聯盟), was being held at South China Normal University (華南師範大學) from 7-29 November. There were a total of 9 events, with over 280 institutes (primary schools, high schools and universities) and more than 1,800 students and staff being participated.

18 student-athletes from UM Tennis Team, Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams had participated in the tennis and 3X3 basketball competitions.

During the festival, UM also joined the Sports Achievement Exhibition (體育成果展), Variety Show (文藝展演) and General Assembly of Physical Education and Sport Development Alliance (粵港澳大灣區體育教育與發展聯盟年會).
