Preparing for your Interview 面試前的準備

Every interview is a valuable opportunity, good preparation is the key to a successful interview. We have some suggestions for the prospective graduates:

• Research the company and the requirements of the position. Although this is often heard or repeated, we are still surprised by the number of students who don’t know enough about the company.
• Practice your introduction. This is usually the first question of the interview and is an important part of the first impression you make on the employer. Remember to let the employer know your strengths and why you are the right person for the job.
• Prepare appropriate formal attire. Although some companies don’t require employees to dress formally for work, but as a job seeker, you should dress formally to show that you are taking this interview seriously.
• Take care of your appearance. Male students should shave before the interview, female students should not wear heavy make-up. Please note that this applies not only to face-to-face interviews, but also to online video interviews.

每一次面試都是一次寶貴的機會，良好的準備是面試成功的關鍵。我們有一些建議給各位準畢業生：

• 詳細了解面試公司的情況及應徵職位的要求。雖然這是老生常談，但我們還是惊訝地發現有很多同學在面試前對公司的了解並不足夠。
• 好好練習你的自我介紹。這通常是面試的第一條問題，也是僱主對你的第一印象的重要組成部分。謹記要讓僱主知道你的優勢，以及為何你是這份工作的合適人選。
• 準備好合適的正裝。雖然有些公司並不要求員工著正裝上班，但是作為一位面試者，你應該穿著正裝，以體現你對這次面試的重視。
• 注意自己的儀容。男生應該剃鬚，女生則不應該化濃妝，請注意這不僅適用於現場面試，也適用於網上視像面試。

How to write an attractive cover letter 如何寫出吸引僱主的求職信

Although a resume plays a vital part in your job hunting,  a good cover letter is also important. It can give the employer a good impression and help you to get a job interview. But how to write a cover letter that appeals to employers?

• Your cover letter should be targeted. Make sure that your tone matched the position you are applying for.
• Tell employers why you are the right candidate for this job. Connect your past experience with the requirement of the position, and let them know that you’ve got what it takes to do the job.
• Avoid being self-centered in your cover letter. Let employers know how you can help them grow as a company and be part of their team.
• Keep it at the right length, it is best to finish your cover letter on one page. Separate different contents into several paragraphs, don’t jam all your information in just one paragraph.

雖然履歷在你的求職中至關重要，然而一封好的求職信也非常重要。它可以給僱主留下好的印象，幫助你獲得面試機會。那麼如何寫出吸引僱主的求職信呢？

• 你的求職信應具有針對性。確保你的筆調與申請的職位相匹配。
• 說明你為什麼是這個職位的合適人選。將你過去的經歷與申請職位的要求聯繫起來，讓僱主知道你有能力勝任這份工作。
• 要避免在求職信中過分以自我為中心，應重點闡述你如何幫助公司發展，如何成為他們團隊中的一分子。
• 謹記不要在求職信中長篇大論，盡量保持一頁紙。可以按照內容和要點劃分段落，避免將過多資訊放在同一段落裏。

You don’t have a second chance to make a first impression, so try your best to present the best of yourself to employers：

• Be presentable. The initial impression people have of you is made before you say a word. Your clothing, grooming, and posture all count as part of the first impression you gave other people；
• Make eye contact, but don’t overdo it. Connections are made through eye contact, but too much eye contact can be viewed as aggressive or make the other person uncomfortable；
• Smile and mean it. Don’t give a fake or forced smile, other people can always know if you mean it or not；
• Say the other person’s name. Saying other people’s name shows that you are engaged and paying attention；
• Listen. Show that you’re listening by making eye contact, smiling or nodding to show you are engaged, and responding to what the other person is saying, not with your agenda.

你沒有第二次機會給僱主留下第一印象，所以你應該盡力在僱主面前展現自己最好的一面：

• 注重自己的外表及行為。別人對你的第一印象在你說話前就形成。你的衣著打扮及行為舉止都構成你給別人的第一印象；
• 要有適量而不過分的眼神交流。眼神交流可以讓人與人之間建立聯繫，但太多的眼神交流會讓別人覺得你具有攻擊性或讓人覺得不安；
• 發自內心的微笑。不要假笑或強迫自己笑，別人能感受你是否真心微笑；
• 提及對方的名字。提及對方的名字能夠顯示你投入及專注於對話中；
• 聆聽。用眼神交流表示你在聆聽對方的說話，用微笑或點頭表示你專注於你們之間的談話。
