MCM College: Yoga & Traditional Indian Dance
MCM College apresenta: Ioga & Dança tradicional Indiana

On November 15th, MCMC College hosted a unique cultural and wellness event, offering students a much-needed break from stress and pressure accumulated from academic work, final projects and forthcoming final examinations. The college welcomed highly esteemed guru, Victor Kumar, a certified professional in both yoga and Indian dance, to lead a dynamic two-part session designed to nourish both mind and body.

The event initiated with a serene yoga session, in which Victor guided students through traditional postures and breathing techniques. The focus was on calming, improving focus, and helping students manage the pre-exam stress, providing them with valuable tools for mental clarity.
Following yoga was a vibrant Bollywood dance class. Students writhed and gyrated to infectious rhythms, learning classic Bollywood steps that brought smiles and laughter to the room. This high-energy segment was the perfect counterbalance, effectively revitalizing spirits and promoting physical activity.
The session provided an amazing experience, demonstrating the college’s commitment to student well-being. Students left the event not only with a greater appreciation for Indian culture but also feeling refreshed, energized, and better equipped to deal their upcoming exams.

This is my first time attending yoga activity. It’s really a special experience. With gentle flows and mindful breathing, I was feeling refreshed, both physically lighter and mentally clearer. And I also enjoy the Indian dance experience and having fun with everyone

This Saturday, I participated in a yoga and dance activity organized by my RC, and I really enjoyed it. We started with the yoga part. I was expecting something calm, but I was surprised to discover how energetic yoga can be. It felt like a mix of both calm and dynamic movements. My body felt so well stretched that I can still feel the effects even today.
This moment really allowed me to let go and become aware of my body. Since we’re at the end of the semester and the beginning of exam season, I’ve been carrying a lot of stress lately. It was the first time in a while that I was able to clear my mind, no overthinking, just being present. It truly felt like a moment of mindfulness.
The second part of the activity was dance, and I loved it. I find Indian dance so beautiful, the movements are fluid yet very technical, which makes it both complex and impressive. It also requires a lot of concentration to perform, but it was fun, and I hope I can improve even more in it.
I’d also like to add a few words about the instructor: he was attentive, kind, funny, helpful, and incredibly talented. It was a real pleasure to take part in his activity. I also want to thank all the assistants who helped us throughout the session.
