澳門大學今（7）日舉行“大學講壇”講座，由世界頂尖數學家、加州大學歐文分校卓越教學講席教授理查德．舍恩就“幾何是一門奇點的學科”為題發表演說，探討當前微分幾何領域當中大部分研究與數學家所稱的奇點。

澳大副校長許敬文表示，理查德．舍恩是數學領域的傑出人物，他的專長包括微分幾何和廣義相對論的數學理論，在學術界享有崇高地位；奇點在當前微分幾何研究中具有重要意義。

講座上，理查德．舍恩指出奇點的概念涵蓋了從最優網路中出現的角點到廣義相對論中的黑洞，揭示了當前微分幾何研究與數學家所稱的奇點之間的關係。舍恩亦詳細探討了奇點在具體實例中的形態，揭示了奇點的神秘性質、分類及它們在微分幾何研究中的應用和重要性。問答及交流環節由澳大科技學院講座教授、數學系系主任桂長峰主持；舍恩與與會者交流互動，討論氣氛熱烈。

理查德．舍恩是世界知名數學家、美國國家科學院院士、美國科學促進會會士和美國數學會會士，在學術界享有崇高地位，並曾獲美國數學會波赫獎、古根海姆獎、沃爾夫數學獎等殊榮。

World-leading mathematician Richard Schoen gives talk on singularities in geometry at UM

As part of the University Lecture Series, the University of Macau (UM) held a talk titled ‘Geometry Is a Singular Subject’ today (7 November). Richard Schoen, a world-leading mathematician and Excellence in Teaching Chair at the University of California at Irvine, was the speaker. Speaking at the event, Michael Hui, vice rector of UM, said that Prof Schoen is an expert in differential geometry and the mathematical theory of general relativity, adding that singularity is of great significance to research on differential geometry. During the talk, Prof Schoen discussed how singularity, a concept in mathematics, is applied in a significant amount of current research in differential geometry, encompassing topics ranging from corners which arise in optimal networks to black holes in general relativity. In addition, Prof Schoen actively engaged with the participants during the Q&A and discussion session.

澳大舉辦首屆中醫藥與天然藥物國際研討會

澳門大學中華醫藥研究院和中藥質量研究國家重點實驗室於10月26至28日舉辦“第一屆澳門中醫藥與天然藥物國際研討會暨第一屆澳門藥學國際研討會”，匯聚300多名澳大利亞、韓國、新加坡、內地、澳門和香港的專家、科研人員及學生參與。

研討會設31場系列演講，探討中醫藥、天然產物和藥物科學的前沿研究和創新技術。澳大副校長葛偉表示，澳大歷來高度重視中醫藥的研究與發展，培養了大批中醫藥人才，開展了系列原創性研究，並在中醫藥的產業化方面取得喜人進展；澳大將繼續支持中藥質量研究國家重點實驗室的發展，進一步推動中華醫藥的國際交流合作。

澳大中華醫藥研究院院長、中藥質量研究國家重點實驗室代主任陳新表示，是次研討會旨在匯聚全球知名科學家和研究人員，為中醫藥、天然產物、藥物科學等領域的前沿研究提供分享平台，期待通過是次研討會推動中醫藥與天然藥物研究的國際合作交流。

研討會涵蓋多個主題，包括中藥質量保障新技術、免疫治療分子靶標、中醫藥臨床研究與監管、藥物發現前沿技術、創新藥物遞送技術、傑出出版論壇等。中國科學院院士邵峰以細胞焦亡為主題，系統回顧了他和團隊近年的研究歷程，從病原菌與宿主相互作用的天然免疫反應入手，闡釋了炎症性細胞焦亡的概念。邵峰新近的研究揭示了細胞發生焦亡的新機制，這一系列研究成果不僅為控制化療副作用提供了新靶點，更為糖尿病、慢性腎病等慢性炎症性疾病的藥物研發提供了全新思路。此外，參與研討會的十位在讀研究生更榮獲由國際白細胞生物學會資助頒發的優秀研究獎。

出席研討會開幕式的嘉賓還有澳門特別行政區政府衛生局局長羅奕龍、科學技術發展基金行政委員會委員鄭冠偉、藥物監督管理局代副局長李志洋等。

UM holds 1st International Symposium on Chinese Medicine and Natural Products

The Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine of the University of Macau (UM) jointly held the 1st International Symposium on Chinese Medicine and Natural Products and the 1st International Symposium on Pharmaceutical Sciences from 26 October to 28 October. More than 300 experts, researchers, and students from Australia, South Korea, Singapore, mainland China, Macao, and Hong Kong attended the symposium. Speaking at the event, Ge Wei, vice rector of UM, said that UM has attached great importance to the research and development of Chinese medicine and has made good progress in the industrialisation of Chinese medicine, adding that the university will continue to promote international cooperation in the field. The symposium featured a series of 31 talks on cutting-edge research and innovative technologies in Chinese medicine, natural products, and pharmaceutical sciences, covering topics such as novel technologies for ensuring the quality of traditional Chinese medicine, molecular targets for immunotherapy, progress in clinical research and drug regulation, frontiers in drug discovery, innovations in pharmaceutical products and drug delivery, and the Outstanding Scientific Publication Forum. Shao Feng, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, was the keynote speaker of the symposium and gave a talk on his research on pyroptosis over the years. In addition, 10 postgraduate students who participated in the symposium were awarded the SLB Trainee Outstanding Research Award sponsored by the Society for Leukocyte Biology.

話劇《大地之光》澳大首演

中國地質大學（武漢）原創話劇《大地之光》於10月30至31日首次在澳門大學演出，象徵“共和國的脊樑—科學大師名校宣傳工程”澳門巡演活動正式啟動。一眾嘉賓與澳門科技工作者、澳門大學師生、中國地質大學校友等觀看演出。

中國科協副主席、中國工程院院士黃璐琦在啟動儀式上表示，以科學大師名校宣傳工程為開端，接下來會把更多元更優質的科學家故事帶給澳門青少年，用時代精神助力粵港澳大灣區建設和澳門經濟發展。

中國地質大學（武漢）黨委書記黃曉玫介紹了李四光的生平經歷，希望藉《大地之光》首次走出內地在澳大公演的契機，促進兩校科技工作者和青年學生更加相近相親。

儀式後，中國地質大學（武漢）的學生帶來以李四光為原型的原創話劇《大地之光》。話劇以倒敘手法，從李四光晚年與學生的對話入手，通過特定的歷史場景表現李四光胸懷祖國、獻身科學、淡泊名利、敬業奉獻、堅持真理、勇於擔當的一生。在一幕幕生動故事背後展現了以李四光為代表的中國科技工作者為民族振興、國家富強、社會進步和人民幸福鞠躬盡瘁的崇高品格及光輝形象。

是次巡演活動由中國科協、教育部、共青團中央、中國科學院、中國工程院、中國文聯、澳門特區政府主辦，中國科協宣傳文化部、澳門特區政府教育及青年發展局、澳門科協合辦，中國地質大學（武漢）和澳門大學承辦，於澳大大學會堂連續演出兩場，合共約1400人觀看演出。

澳門中聯辦副主任嚴植嬋，中國科學院院士常凱，澳大校長宋永華，澳門科學技術發展基金行政委員會委員鄭冠偉，澳門特區政府教育及青年發展局代表、高等教育廳廳長許嘉路，澳門科學技術協進會會長崔世平等亦出席啟動儀式。

除話劇演出外，“共和國的脊樑—科學大師名校宣傳工程”還包括科學家精神宣講報告、高校師生座談交流會、李四光生平事蹟展等系列科學家精神宣傳活動。當中，澳門大學與中國地質大學（武漢）進行了師生座談交流會，雙方深入討論了大學生弘揚科學家精神的經驗做法、理解和體會等。中國地質大學（武漢）副校長李建威、校團委書記朱丹、澳門大學曹光彪書院院長劉潤東、學生事務長彭執中、科技學院助理教授高亮等出席座談會。

“共和國的脊樑—科學大師名校宣傳工程”以劇為媒，為兩地青年同向同行，架起傳播科學家精神的“新橋樑”，形成科學家精神與文化交流深度融合新形態，其十周年系列活動也將正式啟動。

Drama Da Di Zhi Guang premiered at UM

Da Di Zhi Guang, an original drama produced by China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), was premiered at the University of Macau (UM) on 30 October and 31 October. Guests, professionals in the science and technology field in Macao, UM students and faculty, and alumni of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) were among the audience to watch the premiere. During the opening ceremony, Huang Luqi, vice chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology and member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that more diverse and high-quality stories about Chinese scientists will be presented to the youth of Macao, while Huang Xiaomei, secretary of the Party Committee of the China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), introduced to the audience the life story of Li Siguang, protagonist in the drama. Using a reverse narrative to recount the life of Li Siguang, the drama highlights the noble character of the Chinese science and technology workers who devoted themselves to the nation’s rejuvenation, the progress of society, and the well-being of the people. In addition to the drama, students and faculty of UM and China University of Geosciences held an exchange session to discuss their experiences and practices in encouraging engagement in science.

澳大參與發起數智教育發展國際大學聯盟

由北京大學倡議、澳門大學等近30所國內外大學共同發起的“數智教育發展國際大學聯盟”在北京論壇2023開幕式上正式啟動。澳大校長宋永華受邀參加今屆北京論壇及聯盟啟動儀式，和與會代表共同見證聯盟盛事；並於分論壇“數智教育發展國際創新論壇：數字化與全球高等教育未來”上發表主旨演講。

國內外各領域600多位專家學者共赴“北京之約”，通過對話與交流為解決新時代課題貢獻智慧。在分論壇上，宋永華發表題為“數智化時代下高等教育的變革與創新—澳門大學的探索與實踐”的主旨演講，分享對數智化與高等教育的變革發展、數智時代下的學科融合與人才培養的見解，以及澳大數智人文社科的探索與實踐的經驗。

另外，宋永華亦與北京大學校長龔旗煌會面交流。雙方達成共識，將共同依託數智教育發展國際大學聯盟，進一步深化兩校合作，聯動全球高等教育同仁群策群力，交流互鑒，攜手促進新興技術與高等教育融合發展，在變革中把握機遇，共同推動世界高等教育的發展。

北京論壇召開20年來，國際影響力日益擴大，為豐富人文社科交流和推進多元文化共融搭建平台。北京論壇以“文明的和諧與共同繁榮”為總主題，今屆關注“傳承與互鑒”，聚焦後疫情時代的全球可持續發展，從多維度、多領域尋找人類文明炬火生生不息的密碼。數智教育發展國際大學聯盟的成立將加強高校間的合作，共同應對數智時代人類面臨的重大挑戰，探索數智治理方式，為增進人類福祉提供學術支撐及政策建議。

UM initiates establishment of Digital Intelligence International Development Education Alliance

The Digital Intelligence International Development Education Alliance, jointly initiated by nearly 30 universities from home and abroad, including Peking University and the University of Macau (UM), was inaugurated at the opening ceremony of Beijing Forum 2023. The forum brought together more than 600 experts and scholars, who discussed and exchanged views on a wide range of topics. Yonghua Song, rector of UM, was invited to attend Beijing Forum and officiate at the inauguration ceremony of the alliance. He also gave a keynote speech titled ‘The Innovation and Change of Higher Education in Digital Intelligence Era—The Practice of the University of Macau’ at a sub-forum. He shared his views on digitisation and the changes and development of higher education, the integration of disciplines and the cultivation of talent in the digital intelligence era, as well as UM’s exploratory and practical experiences in the fields of digital humanities and social sciences. In addition, Song met with Gong Qihuang, president of Peking University, and exchanged views with him. The two parties reached a consensus on strengthening cooperation between the two universities through the alliance and promoting the integration of emerging technologies and higher education.

逾百海內外專家於澳大探討智慧城市技術

澳門大學智慧城市物聯網國家重點實驗室今（3）日舉行“第三屆澳門智慧城市技術研討會”。今屆研討會以“賦能明日城市：釋放人工智能的潛力”為主題，匯聚逾百名海內外專家及學者共同探討智慧城市發展的重大策略、前沿理論、關鍵技術與實踐應用，運用多個學科領域的關鍵知識，提升智慧城市運營和發展的效率，為灣區及全球的創新生態系統注入活力。

澳大校長、智慧城市物聯網國家重點實驗室主任宋永華擔任研討會主席。他於線上致辭時表示，全球經濟在疫情衝擊之後開啟復甦之路，科技已成為經濟社會發展的主要推動力，是次會議為各領域的研究人員、學者和專業人士提供一個交流平台，分享智慧城市的創新理論、關鍵技術和實踐經驗，並促進產業和技術的研究合作。

研討會設有五個主題分會，涵蓋智慧城市領域多個維度，分別為智能感知與通訊分會、人工智能與大數據分會、智慧能源分會、智能交通分會和城市公共安全與災害防治分會；亦設有業界交流專題、開發課題成果專題及海報投稿，並新增專家座談環節。

會上，滑鐵盧大學教授沈學民、伊利諾伊大學厄巴納香檳分校講座教授Tarek Abdelzaher、伊利諾伊理工大學特聘教授 Mohammad Shahidehpour、羅格斯大學講座教授熊輝、香港科技大學講座教授張利民發表主旨報告；另外，澳門大學科技學院院長及講座教授須成忠主持題為“人工智能與城市復興”的專家座談，由香港科技大學首席副校長及講座教授郭毅可、Tarek Abdelzaher、微眾銀行首席人工智慧官楊強及澳門大學法學院教授Rostam J. Neuwirth對人工智能如何從不同層面推進城市智慧化發展進行討論；並有60多位科研院校學者進行專題演講，分享其最新成果。

是次研討會延續往屆形式，開展跨學科的多維度交流，意在走出大灣區，發佈來自世界各地學者及業界的原創性、關鍵性的研究成果；以智能通訊、大數據、能源、自動駕駛、公共安全為主，展示智慧城市建設的多個專案，建設互聯網模型研究，開發人工智能技術，讓科研成果逐步轉化為實際應用。

More than 100 experts from home and abroad discuss smart city technologies at UM

The 3rd Macao Conference on Smart City Technologies, organised by the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City of the University of Macau (UM), is held at UM today (3 November). With the theme ‘Energizing Tomorrow’s Cities: Unleashing the Potential of Smart AI’, this year’s conference brings together more than 100 experts and scholars from home and abroad to explore key strategies, pioneering theories, crucial technologies, and practical applications for smart city development.

Yonghua Song, rector of UM and director of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, is the general chair of the conference. In his virtual speech, Song said that the transformational power of technology, especially in creating smarter, more resilient cities, has never been more crucial to the recovery of the global economy in the post-pandemic era. The conference provides a platform for experts, scholars and industry practitioners to share their knowledge on novel theories, key technologies, and practices for smart city innovation, and also to promote potential industry-academia collaborations.

The conference covers five technical tracks in the field of smart city, namely sensing and communications, AI and big data, smart energy, intelligent transportation, and urban public safety and disaster prevention. It comprises keynotes, talks, industrial and poster sessions, as well as a newly added panel discussion.

Keynote speakers at the conference included Shen Xuemin, professor at the University of Waterloo; Tarek Abdelzaher, chair professor at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign; Mohammad Shahidehpour, university distinguished professor at the Illinois Institute of Technology; Xiong Hui, chair professor at Rutgers University; and Zhang Limin, head and chair professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In addition, Xu Cheng-Zhong, dean of UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology and chair professor of the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City, chaired the panel discussion titled ‘AI and the Urban Renaissance’. During the panel discussion, Guo Yike, provost and chair professor at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Tarek Abdelzaher; Yang Qiang, chief artificial intelligence officer of WeBank; and Rostam J. Neuwirth, professor in UM’s Faculty of Law, discussed how artificial intelligence can promote the development of urban intelligence from various aspects. Moreover, more than 60 scholars from different research institutes give talks to share their latest achievements.

This year’s conference follows the format of the previous edition, providing participants with opportunities for interdisciplinary exchanges. It aims to go beyond the Guangdong-Hong Kong- Macao Greater Bay Area, and offers a platform for scholars and industry practitioners from around the world to publish their original and significant research results. Focusing on smart communication, big data, energy, autonomous driving, and public safety, the conference presents a range of projects on smart city development, the building of models for Internet of Things applications, and the development of artificial intelligence technologies, transforming research results into practical applications.

The conference is co-organised by the Faculty of Science and Technology of UM, the Science and Technology Development Fund (FDCT) of the Macao SAR, the Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, the Zhuhai UM Science & Technology Research Institute, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Joint Laboratory for Smart Cities. It is sponsored by Huawei Macau, CEM, CTM, BoardWare Information System Limited, and China Construction Engineering (Macau) Company Limited. It is also supported by the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau and the Transport Bureau. 澳大與數說故事聯合實驗室揭幕

澳門大學—數說故事通用人工智能聯合實驗室今（3）日揭牌，聯合實驗室將聚焦探索人工智能前沿技術及商業應用，研發具有全球影響力的可控多模態智能技術。實驗室將為琴澳產學研交流合作作出示範，促進橫琴與澳門乃至粵港澳大灣區的深度融合及科技創新發展。

澳大科技學院院長須成忠表示，澳大近年在人工智能與機器人研究領域取得飛躍進展，是次與數說故事共建聯合實驗室，將有助澳大的研發成果應用到實際產業當中，雙方可以此契機，落實真正的科研成果轉移轉化，造福社會。

UM, Datastory inaugurate joint laboratory

The University of Macau (UM) and Datastory inaugurated their Joint Laboratory of Artificial General Intelligence today (3 November). The joint laboratory will focus on exploring cutting-edge technologies and business applications of artificial intelligence, as well as developing controllable multimodal AI technologies with global influence. It will also serve as a platform to demonstrate industry-academia collaboration between Hengqin and Macao, with the aim of promoting deep integration between Hengqin and Macao, and between cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA), as well as advancing technological innovation in the region.

Xu Cheng-Zhong, dean of UM’s Faculty of Science and Technology, said that the university has made significant progress in AI and robotics research in recent years. The joint laboratory between UM and Datastory will facilitate the application of the university’s research results in industries. Both parties can take this opportunity to commercialise research results for the benefit of society.

Xu Yabo, founder and CEO of Datastory, expressed hope that through the cooperation, UM and Datastory will promote the development of the AI industry, further engage in the development of Hengqin and Macao, and contribute to the advanced technology industry in Macao and the GBA.

澳門大學傳訊部今（1）日邀請南方都市報社編委、N視頻CEO陳偉斌就短視頻的發展趨勢進行演講，分享新聞短視頻業態與生產傳播技巧，吸引不少澳大師生出席聆聽。

講座上，陳偉斌圍繞媒體轉型的大環境下國內外新聞視頻化現狀、南都N視頻的創新敘事、視頻的策劃和傳播技巧、如何打造持續爆款能力等分享了精闢的見解，深入淺出地講解了新聞短視頻業態及生產傳播技巧。他更對多個成功案例展開分析，生動地闡述了“強現場”、“正能量”、“暖新聞”、“趣味性”等短視頻的爆款邏輯。問答及交流環節上，講者和與會者積極交流互動，討論氣氛熱烈。

UM invites CEO of N Video to give talk on development trend of short video

At the invitation of the Communications Office of the University of Macau (UM), Chen Weibin, editorial board member of Southern Metropolis Daily and CEO of N Video, gave a talk today (1 November) on the development trend of short video. The talk attracted a number of UM students, faculty and staff members. During the talk, Chen shared his views on the current trend towards videolisation in news reporting in China and abroad, the innovative narrative of Southern Metropolis Daily’s N Video, as well as video production planning and distribution techniques. He also discussed how to make captivating short videos and analysed several successful cases. Chen actively engaged with the audience during the Q&A and discussion session.

澳大與科英布拉大學多項舉措深化教研合作

葡萄牙科英布拉大學副校長João Nuno Calvão da Silva率團訪問澳門大學。期間，雙方舉行贈書及表彰儀式，以感謝澳大法學院兩位教授對學術的貢獻；兩校亦就“認知老化聯合實驗室” 簽署合作協議並進行揭牌儀式，藉此深化教研合作。

澳大校長宋永華、副校長馬許願還與João Nuno Calvão da Silva會面座談，就深化科研學術、人才培養、跨領域合作等交換意見，期望共同推動澳門與葡萄牙高校的合作交流。

贈書儀式上，馬許願、法學院院長唐曉晴及João Nuno Calvão da Silva共同就João Calvão da Silva所著的《Sinal e Contrato-Promessa》分享觀點與感想。馬許願和唐曉晴對João Calvão da Silva對法學界的卓越貢獻及其與澳門的特殊淵源表示敬意，強調該書的中文版對法學界的深遠影響。João Nuno Calvão da Silva感激澳大翻譯該書。

其後，科英布拉大學向澳大法學院副教授Augusto Teixeira Garcia和Manuel Trigo授予“校友大使”（Embaixador Alumni）的榮譽稱號，以肯定他們對大學及學術界的傑出貢獻。João Nuno Calvão da Silva高度讚揚兩位獲獎者的卓越成就與貢獻，並向其頒發證書和獎座。

UM, University of Coimbra strengthen teaching and research collaboration through multiple initiatives

A delegation led by João Nuno Calvão da Silva, vice rector of the University of Coimbra, visited the University of Macau (UM). During the visit, the two parties held a book presentation and recognition ceremony to pay tribute to two professors in UM’s Faculty of Law (FLL) for their academic contributions. In addition, the two universities signed a cooperation agreement for their Joint Laboratory of Cognitive Aging and held a plaque unveiling ceremony, with the aim of strengthening teaching and research collaboration.

UM Rector Yonghua Song and Vice Rector Rui Martins had a meeting with João Nuno Calvão da Silva to exchange views on promoting research, academic offerings, talent cultivation, and interdisciplinary cooperation, in the hope of fostering cooperation and exchanges between universities in Macao and Portugal.

At the book presentation ceremony, Martins, FLL Dean Tong Io Cheng, and João Nuno Calvão da Silva exchanged views on Sinal e Contrato-Promessa, a book authored by João Calvão da Silva. Martins and Tong expressed their respect for João Calvão da Silva’s contribution to the legal community and his special links with Macao, highlighting that the Chinese version of the book will have a considerable influence on the legal community. João Nuno Calvão da Silva also expressed his gratitude to UM for translating the book.

The University of Coimbra then honoured Augusto Teixeira Garcia and Manuel Trigo, associate professors in FLL, with the title of Embaixador Alumni (Alumni Ambassadors) in recognition of their contributions to the university and the academic community. João Nuno Calvão da Silva spoke highly of the outstanding achievements and contributions of the two professors, and presented them with certificates and glass trophies.

In addition, on behalf of their respective universities, Martins and João Nuno Calvão da Silva signed a cooperation agreement for the establishment of the joint laboratory and officiated at the plaque unveiling ceremony. According to the agreement, the two universities will leverage their academic strengths and research resources in the fields of cognitive aging and neurophysiology; for example, through integrating expertise, conducting collaborative research, and cultivating talent in related disciplines. Through this partnership, both universities hope to create a synergistic environment to promote knowledge exchange, interdisciplinary collaboration, and innovative research on cognitive aging, so as to foster the development of higher education and research in Portugal and Macao, and contribute to the academic community, society, and the advancement of scientific understanding in the relevant fields.

Those attending the event also included Xu Cheng-Zhong, interim director of UM’s Institute of Collaborative Innovation; Zhen Yuan, head of UM’s Centre for Cognitive and Brain Sciences; as well as representatives from the University of Coimbra.

O Vice-Reitor da Universidade de Coimbra, João Nuno Calvão da Silva, liderou uma delegação em visita à Universidade de Macau. Durante a visita, as duas instituições realizaram uma cerimónia de oferta de livros e de reconhecimento, agradecendo a contribuição de dois professores da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Macau para a academia; as duas universidades também assinaram um acordo de cooperação e realizaram a cerimónia de inauguração do “Laboratório Conjunto de Envelhecimento Cognitivo”, aprofundando assim a cooperação em ensino e pesquisa.

O Reitor da Universidade de Macau, Yonghua Song, e o Vice-Reitor Rui Martins, juntamente com João Nuno Calvão da Silva, reuniram-se e discutiram questões relacionadas com o aprofundamento da investigação científica e académica, a formação de talentos e a cooperação interdisciplinar, na esperança de impulsionar conjuntamente a colaboração e intercâmbio entre as instituições de ensino superior de Macau e Portugal.

Na cerimónia de oferta de livros, Rui Martins, o Director da Faculdade de Direito, Tong Io Cheng, e João Nuno Calvão da Silva partilharam os seus pontos de vista e impressões sobre o livro de João Calvão da Silva, “Sinal e Contrato-Promessa”. Rui Martins e Tong Io Cheng expressaram o seu respeito pelas extraordinárias contribuições de João Calvão da Silva para o campo jurídico e a sua ligação especial a Macau, destacando o profundo impacto da versão chinesa do livro no mundo jurídico. João Nuno Calvão da Silva agradeceu à Universidade de Macau pela tradução do livro.

Posteriormente, a Universidade de Coimbra conferiu a Augusto Teixeira Garcia e a Manuel Trigo, professores associados da Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Macau, o título honorífico de “Embaixador Alumni”, reconhecendo as suas excepcionais contribuições para a universidade e a comunidade académica. João Nuno Calvão da Silva elogiou altamente as realizações e contribuições dos dois premiados, entregando-lhes certificados e diplomas.

Além disso, Rui Martins e João Nuno Calvão da Silva representaram as duas universidades na assinatura do acordo-quadro para o estabelecimento do laboratório conjunto e presidiram a cerimónia de inauguração. Ambas as partes irão utilizar as suas vantagens académicas e recursos de pesquisa nas áreas do envelhecimento cognitivo e da neurofisiologia, integrando conhecimento especializado, desenvolvendo pesquisa cooperativa e formando talentos em disciplinas relacionadas. As duas universidades esperam criar um ambiente de sinergia através da cooperação, promover a troca de conhecimentos, realizar pesquisa interdisciplinar e inovação no estudo do envelhecimento cognitivo, impulsionando o desenvolvimento do ensino superior e da pesquisa científica em Portugal e Macau, e contribuindo para o entendimento científico da academia, da sociedade e dos campos relacionados.

Delegation from Xiamen University visits UM

A delegation led by Zhang Rong, party secretary of Xiamen University, visited the University of Macau (UM) and was received by Xu Jian, vice rector of UM. Xu introduced to the delegation the history and developments of the university. She expressed hope that the two universities will promote more diversified and higher-level academic exchanges, explore more areas of cooperation, and strengthen interdisciplinary research collaboration. The delegation then visited the UM Wu Yee Sun Library, the Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering, the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine, and Ma Man Kei and Lo Pak Sam College, to learn about UM’s academic layout and development, research projects and achievements, residential college system, and campus facilities. In addition, the two parties held in-depth discussions on academic cooperation in various fields and the relevant implementation. Zhang spoke highly of the developments in UM’s residential college system, talent cultivation, as well as research and teaching. He also expressed hope that the two universities will continue to deepen their cooperation and promote academic and research development in both places.
