UM Martial Arts Team exchange with Foshan University

In order to enhance the skills and establish friendship with martial arts team in the Greater Bay Area, UM Martial Arts Team conducted a martial arts exchange activities with Foshan University during 20-21 April.

The activities included exchanging with the Martial Arts Team of Foshan University,  visiting the Foshan University as well as Hongsheng Memorial Hall.

UM participated in The 17th ASFAA Congress

        28 UM students and staff recently participated in the 17th ASFAA Congress hosted by the Sports Bureau of the Macao SAR Government. It was held from 14-18 March 2024 in Macau at Hotel Royal under the theme of ‘Strengthening Family Relationships through Sport for All’. The Congress aims to provide a platform for participants to engage in discussions and share insights in the field of Sport for All. This year’s event attracted over 120 participants from Macau, Mainland China and foreign countries and regions.

        The UM participants included director of Office of Sports Affairs, staff from OSA, postgraduate students and undergraduate students.

康體競技活動

1       活動簡介：活動以隊際康體競技比賽形式進行，8人一隊，每隊按組別在賽場上完成大會設定的遊戲項目，以最快時間到達終點。具體遊戲項目玩法以主辦單位公佈為準。

2       活動日期：2024年3月24日（星期日）

3       活動時間：09:00（08:00開始進行分批報到）

4       活動地點：塔石體育館

5       參賽資格：

           5.1    凡於1964年至2006年出生的本澳女性居民，可自行組隊或以本澳婦女團體及其他機構名義組隊參加；

           5.2    獲邀大灣區城市的婦女團體。

6       賽制：

           6.1    比賽為分為本地賽及大灣區友誼賽；

           6.2    本地賽按參加者的出生年份分成A組〈1984年至2006年〉和B組〈1964年至1983年〉，每隊8位參加者出賽。參加的隊伍按組別在賽場上完成大會設定的兩個遊戲項目，以計時方式計算總時間，初賽總時間最快的10隊可晉級決賽，定出各組別冠亞季軍；

           6.3    大灣區婦女團體參與大灣區友誼賽，在賽場上完成大會設定的兩個遊戲項目，以計時方式計算總時間，定出冠亞季軍及優異奬。

“UM Outstanding Alumni Athletes – Lai Ka Tong” Sharing Session was held successfully on 21 Feb

     The “UM Outstanding Alumni Athletes – Lai Ka Tong” Sharing Session, organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), was held successfully on 21 Feb at N8-Sports Pavilion. 

     The UM alumni, Mr. Lai Ka Tong was invited to share his experience in basketball and sports career path. He is a local professional basketball player and has been dubbed ‘Macao’s Yao Ming’. Mr. Lai received the Macau Outstanding Athlete Award in 2017. He once led UM men’s Basketball Team to win the runner-up in the China University Basketball Association League (South Division).  

     At the sharing sessions, Mr. Kai not only shared his experience playing basketball in middle school and University of Macau, but also shared how he finally became a full-time basketball athlete. The sharing sessions attracted around 540 student participants.

UM Swimming Team won 11 Golds, 11 Silvers, 9 Bronzes and broke 1 record at “2023-2024 Macau University Swimming Championship”

       The “2023-2024 Macau University Swimming Championship” was held on 20 and 27 January at Olympic Sports Centre – Aquatic Centre. It was organized by ADUM (Macau Universitarian Sports Association). The participating higher education institutions included: University of Macau, Macao Polytechnic University, Macao Institute for Tourism Studies and Kiang Wu Nursing College of Macau.

        There were 15 UM students participated and won 11 golds, 11 silvers, 9 bronzes (a total of 31 medals) in 20 events. The team members also broke records in the men’s 4x50m medley relay. Please see results summary as follows:

【Sports Seminars and Workshop Series】
“UM Outstanding Alumni Athletes – Chao Man Hou” Sharing Session was held successfully on 25 Jan

        The “UM Outstanding Alumni Athletes – Chao Man Hou” Sharing Session, organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), was held successfully on 25 Jan at N8-Sports Pavilion. 

        UM alumni, Mr. Chao Man Hou was invited to share his experience in swimming and his careers in sports. As a local professional swimmer and aka the ‘Frog King’ of Macao, Mr. Chao setting 29 Macau swimming records and finished fifth in the men’s 50m breaststroke as well as sixth in the men’s 100m breaststroke at 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. He received the certificate of merit from the Macao SAR government in 2010 and 2014.

        At the sharing sessions, Ms. Grace Chau, Director of Office of Sports Affairs presented a souvenir to Mr. Chao, and then, Mr. Chao shared and interacted with UM students. The sharing sessions attracted around 320 student participants to attend.
