The voting for the Management Board of 19^th UMPA has ended at 19:30, April 25^th 2024. Under the supervision of candidate cabinets and the other attendees. Election Committee of UMPA counted the votes and announced the results of voting as follow:

1. The total votes for candidate cabinet for General Assembly and Board of Directors:

The aggregate number of votes for “Polestar” is 722, with 33 invalid votes and 689 valid votes including 16 disagree votes and 673 agree votes. In addition, according to the election rules, 10 valid votes will be deducted due to their violations during the cooling off period. The final number of valid votes for “Polestar” is 679.

2. The total votes for candidate cabinet for Board of Supervisors:

The aggregate number of votes for “CHIU HANG GOK” is 721, with 35 invalid votes and 686 valid votes including 35 disagree votes and 651 agree votes.

According to the UMPA Constitution, the candidate cabinet “Polestar” has been elected as the 19^th Management Board for General Assembly and Board of Directors; The candidate cabinet “CHIU HANG GOK” has been elected as the 19^th Management Board for Board of supervisors.

To cultivate students’ awareness of a probity society, members of the Student Leadership Programme organized a visit to the Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) of Macau S.A.R. on April 10 and 17, with the theme “Integrity and Honesty”. Visits to the CCAC’s community offices aim to enhance students’ values of integrity and the correct code of conduct. 

The visit to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) distinguishes itself from traditional guided tours by adopting an “experiential” approach. The focus of the CCAC’s activities was to provide participants with hands-on experience. The event includes lectures, allowing visitors to learn about the historical development and functions of the CCAC engagingly. CCAC staff guided participants through various exhibition halls and simulated workplaces, including the mock interview room and identification room, during the event. These spaces offered participants the opportunity to actively experience the CCAC’s investigative processes, while the staff introduced the procedures for taking statements and identifying individuals.

Additionally, participants visit different exhibition facilities. For instance, they had the chance to witness a 3D weapons display that demonstrated the weapons and tools frequently used by investigators in various situations. An interactive exhibit showcasing physical evidence allowed participants to gain deeper insights into the cases handled by the CCAC. The visit also includes a stop at the Integrity Café, where participants can engage in trendy games. Toward the end of the event, the host guided participants to reflect on their learnings from the visit and share their experiences.

Participants in the activity expressed their unanimous appreciation for the engaging experience and gained a deeper understanding of the efforts and accomplishments of CCAC in combating corruption. We hoped that the knowledge students gained from this activity would help them develop a strong moral compass and ethical framework, actively cultivate a positive personal image, and foster a sense of social responsibility.

Student Leadership Training Programme was established in 2020 to nurture and develop students’ leadership qualities through different activities and training, to enhance their self-confidence, communication, and independent thinking skills. Programme members are required to organize theme-based activities by the end of the semester. Based on the unanimous decision of the Election Committee on April 19th, the following amendments have been made to the eligibility criteria for the University of Macau Postgraduate Association Election Committee in Notice No. 5/2024:

According to the statistics of registered students in the 2nd Semester of Academic Year 2023/2024 of the University of Macau on April 16^th 2024, the total number of registered postgraduate students is 5783 and the effective voting rate is 10%. Details of the calculation are as following:

1) The total number of valid votes obtained by the candidate cabinet shall not be less than 10% (579 votes) of the total number of graduate students in the University of Macau;

2) The number of valid “Agree” votes for the elected candidate must exceed the number of valid “Disagree” votes.

According to the notice of the Election Committee No. 1/2024, No. 2/2024 and No. 3/2024 of the University of Macau Postgraduate Association, as of 12th April, 2024, the candidates of the 19th Management Board of UMPA – “Polestar” and ” CHIU HANG GOK ” – have passed the public examination by all postgraduate students and are eligible for election.

In order to present the political platform of the candidates to the public, the Election Committee decided to organize a briefing and Q&A session at E4-G053 on 18 April, 2024, starting at 15:00/3pm. All postgraduates are welcomed.
