CCE and BRTC co-organized a training course on Leadership Development for students from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications

During October 2 to 3, University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) co-organized with Business Research and Training Centre of Faculty of Business Administration (BRTC), held a training course on Leadership Development for 14 students from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications.

The training included several lectures, taught in English, topics are “Critical Thinking and Decision Making for Leaders”, “Leadership and Strategic Management” and “How to Nurture Future Leaders in the 21st Century”. The students expressed that they greatly benefited from the trip, gaining new experiences and understanding of UM and Macao with profound and wonderful impressions.

Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT) is located in Nanjing, it was established in 1942. It is a National World First-class Discipline University and High Level University of Jiangsu Province; Double first-class university developed jointly by Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. Since 2022, NJUPT has sent several student groups to participate in short-term online or offline training courses organized by UM, establishing a good cooperative relationship between the two institutions.

To strengthen cooperation between UM and universities in mainland, CCE and BRTC are continuing to provide qualified training programs for college students in the future.

CCE organized a summer camp on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media for students from Zhejiang University

From August 25 to 29, The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organized ZJU-UM Camp on Artificial Intelligence and Digital Media for students from Zhejiang University, with 40 participants mainly from College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University.

The five-day training was rich and intensive, consisting of six lectures all delivered in English by UM senior professors. The lectures covered the development of artificial intelligence and digital media in Macao. During the campus tour, participants visited the State Key Laboratory of Internet of Things for Smart City and the Creative Media Lab at Faculty of Social Science. They were also led by Public Relations Student Ambassador to visit UM Wu Yee Sun Library, University Gallery and Residential College area. Students also went to MGM Cotai and TDM for off-campus visiting. In final part, the participants conducted group presentations, and the trainer provided detailed feedback. This training program allowed the participants to understand and experience the teaching model, academic atmosphere, and beautiful campus of UM, as well as immerse themselves in the unique blend of Chinese and Western cultures found in Macao.

Following the summer camp held in August 2023, this was the second time that College of Media and International Culture of Zhejiang University selected students to participate in a summer exchange program at UM. CCE continues to provide more high-quality training programs to strengthen cooperation between mainland prestigious universities and UM.

CCE collaborated with HKU SPACE to organize a training course on Ecological Environment in HK and Macao for students from Nanjing Agricultural University

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), in collaboration with HKU SPACE, organized a training course on Ecological Environment in HK and Macao from August 18th to 23rd for 15 students majoring in Agricultural Resources and Environment from Nanjing Agricultural University.

The one-week training program was rich in content and took place in both Hong Kong and Macao. The students first attended 2 workshops on “Arboriculture in Hong Kong” and “Challenges and Opportunities in Modern Agriculture” at HKU campus. Then they came to UM to attend workshop on “The Current Status, Challenges, and Countermeasures of the Marine Ecological Environment in Hong Kong and Macao,” as well as a sharing session by Dr. Joe Chan from the Macau Ecological Society on topic of “The Current Status and Future of Macao’s Ecological Environment”. The students also visited UM campus and the laboratories of Centre for Regional Oceans (CRO). Finally, the students made group presentation and received detailed comments from the two instructors. At the closing ceremony, student representative expressed that through this training, they gained a better understanding of the ecological environments in Hong Kong and Macao, as well as the ecological protection work in coastal cities. They gained a lot and hoped to have the opportunity to return for further learning.

Nanjing Agricultural University (NAU) is a national key institution of higher learning, directly affiliated to the Chinese Ministry of Education. Famously known for its established disciplines in agriculture and life sciences, NAU also offers balanced, comprehensive programs in diverse branches of learning, including sciences, economics, management, engineering, humanities and law. NAU is a university covered by the 211 Program and has been selected as one of the Innovation Platforms for Outstanding Disciplines listed under the National 985 Excellence Initiative Project as well as one of the institutions of higher education chosen to develop world-class disciplines under China’s Double First-class University Project. The history of NAU can be traced back to its predecessors – the Sanjiang Normal School, a teacher training center in Nanjing founded in 1902, and the Faculty of Agriculture of Private University of Nanking, which was founded in 1914.

This training course was collaborated with HKU SPACE again, through the cross-city academic exchange between HK and Macao, it helps to develop continuing education cooperation model in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

CCE and BRTC co-organized a training course on Business and Management for students from Zhanjiang University of Science and Technology

During August 10 to 15, University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) held a training course on Business and Management for 10 students from Zhanjiang University of Science and Technology, co-organized with Business Research and Training Centre of Faculty of Business Administration (BRTC).

The training course included several seminars and campus visit, the topics are included “Introduction to Macao’s economy and development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”, “Quantitative Analysis in Economics”, “Marketing and Brand Strategy” and “Knowledge of Financial Markets”, which are taught by senior professors from UM. Moreover, the students visited Currency Museum and ISCG Gaming Laboratory (Mock Casino) in FBA and joined campus tour guided by PR Student Ambassadors. The participants all expressed that they benefited a lot from this trip. They were left with a deep and favorable impression of both Macao and UM, and they hope to return for further study in the future.

Zhanjiang University of Science and Technology is located in Zhanjiang City and is a full-time general undergraduate institution. The school was founded in 1999 through a collaboration between Guangdong Ocean University and Cunjin Education Group. It was approved as an independent college by the Ministry of Education in 2006 and became an independently established private general undergraduate college in 2021.

During August 5 to 9, University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) held a training course on Business and Management, co-organized with Business Research and Training Centre of Faculty of Business Administration (BRTC), total 18 students joined the course, they are from Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications and from Gengdan Institute of Beijing University of Technology.

The five-day training course included several seminars and campus visit, the topics are included “Advertising and Promotion in the Digital Age”, “Technological Innovation and Business Management”, “Marketing and Brand Strategy” and “Modern Enterprise Finance and Management Accounting”, which are taught by senior professors from UM. In final part, all students gave group presentation and got comment by FBA professor. Moreover, students visited Currency Museum and ISCG Gaming Laboratory (Mock Casino) in FBA. We got a good feedback from all participants.

Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications (NJUPT) is located in Nanjing, it was established in 1942. It is a National World First-class Discipline University and High Level University of Jiangsu Province; Double first-class university developed jointly by Ministry of Education and Jiangsu Province. NJUPT is engineering-oriented with a focus on information technology.

Gengdan Institute (within the quality assurance framework of the Beijing University of Technology) was founded in 2005 and is a private, not for profit university.

To strengthen cooperation between UM and universities in mainland, CCE and BRTC are continuing to provide training programs for college students in the future.

CCE organised a training course on Medicine and Life Science for medical university students from mainland China

The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organised a training course on Medicine and Life Science for medical university students from mainland China during July 29 to Aug 2. Total 51 students joined the training, they are mainly from Southwest Medical University, Fujian Medical University, and Guangdong Medical University.

The five-day training course is rich in content and taught in English by UM professors. The topics include “Precision Medicine and Big Data – Healthcare Revolution and Business Opportunities”, “A stem cell journey: from bench side to bedside”, “Comparison and difference of clinical medicine between Chinese and Western medicine”, and “Introduction to Drugs and Drug Analysis”. The participants experienced high-quality, all-English instruction from UM. The classes were engaging and dynamic, they left with a very positive impression of both Macao and UM.

CCE continues to develop more training programs for university students, promoting exchange and cooperation between mainland universities and UM.

CCE organized a training course on Teacher Education for the second batch of students from Capital Normal University

Following the specialized training program for the first batch of Capital Normal University (CNU) students in mid-July, The University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) organized a training course on Talent Development of Teacher Education from July 26 to 30 for the second batch of CNU students. This second batch included 36 undergraduate students from teacher education majors (second-year and third-year students).

This week-long cross-border exchange training program was rich in content, allowing participants to gain a deeper understanding of Macao’s economic and cultural development through various topics, exchanges, and on-campus and off-campus visits. They learned about the classroom atmosphere and international teaching concepts at UM, as well as the differences between Macao’s formal secondary education system and that of mainland China. A series of special lectures were delivered by senior professors from Faculty of Education (FED) and Faculty of Science and Technology (FST). On campus, the participants visited FED, Centre for Science and Engineering Promotion, UM Library, and Cheng Yu Tung College (CYTC). Off-campus visits included Pui Ching Middle School Macau, Base for Education of Love for the Country and Macao for Young People, and Macao Science Center. At the closing ceremony, a student representative shared their reflections, stating that this training allowed them to experience the unique charm of Macao and gain a better understanding of its formal education system. It strengthened their determination to pursue a career in education after graduation and expressed their hope to return to Macao and UM for further studies in the future.

Capital Normal University is a “Double First-Class” university in China and a “Jointly Established University” by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Education. It is an important talent training base in Beijing. The University of Macau’s Centre for Continuing Education will continue to develop more training programs for university students, promoting exchange and cooperation between mainland universities and UM.

CCE and BRTC co-organized a training course on Business Communication and Leadership for students from Xiangtan Institute of Technology and Hunan Industry Polytechnic

During July 22 to 26, University of Macau (UM) Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) co-organized with Business Research and Training Centre of Faculty of Business Administration (BRTC), held a training course on Business Communication and Leadership for students from Xiangtan Institute of Technology and Hunan Industry Polytechnic, a total of 55 students joined the training.

The five-day training program included several lectures, taught in English by senior professors and instructors from UM. The topics included “Critical Thinking and Decision Making for Leaders”, “How to cultivate future leaders of the 21st century”, “Business Communication Skills for Leaders,” and “Business Management and Leadership”. In the final part, students were divided into groups to present their learning and understanding for the course. The course received positive feedback from the participants.

Xiangtan Institute of Technology, located in Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, is the first independently transformed ordinary undergraduate institution in Hunan Province approved by the Ministry of Education.

Hunan Industry Polytechnic, established in 1999, is a provincially operated full-time public higher vocational institution located in Changsha, Hunan Province. The school closely aligns with the equipment manufacturing industry and has earned the reputation as the “Huangpu Military Academy of Technical and Skilled Talents in Hunan’s Equipment Manufacturing Industry.”
