UM Badminton Team won the Champion
at BNU/AAAUM – The Cup of New Year of Snake – Badminton Invitational Tournament

The “BNU/AAAUM – The Cup of New Year of Snake – Badminton Invitational Tournament” was organized by University of Macau Alumni Association (AAAUM) and Banco Nacional Ultramarino, S.A. (BNU) Staff Club on 23 Feb at UM. Athletes from local areas and Mainland China have participated in the competition.

6 student athletes (3 males and 3 females) from UM Badminton Team was being sent and have participated in the competition on behalf of UM. The competition includes five games, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Singles and Women’s Singles. If a team wins three games, the remaining matches do not need to be proceeded. UM Badminton Team won three games in the group matches, semi-finals, and finals respectively. Ultimately UM becoming the Champions of this competition.

There were a total of 7 participating teams, namely:

UMSU Archery Association – Archery (Recurve Bow) Basic Course & 24-25 Novice Match

Dear Students and Staff:

The long-awaited archery beginner class is here!

Each class is limited to 12 participants and will be personally guided by certified professional instructors, allowing you to quickly master archery skills over four sessions. Each session includes two hours of professional teaching and practice time, and you can also take advantage of additional practice during our member hours! The top four students in each class will have the opportunity to participate in the 24/25 academic year’s novice competition, going head-to-head with other competitors for a chance to win prizes!

Admission Method

– If the number of applicants exceeds 48, admission, will be determined by a lucky draw. Payment must be completed by 26 Jan so as to confirm your registration.

Dress code

– Proper sportswear and sports shoes

Course Certificate

– Students who complete all four classes will receive a basic course certificate issued by the UMSUAA.

Internal Competition

– The final class will feature a ranking competition of 72 arrows, where the top four students with the highest scores will receive medals and qualify for the novice competition.

Novice Competition (新手賽)

– The novice competition will be held on a weekend in March, consisting of a ranking competition of 72 arrows and a one-on-one elimination round. The top four performing students will receive medals and cash prizes, with further details to be announced in the competition wechat group.

*Successful registration forms will be via e-mail notification.

*If there are less than 5 applicants in a certain period, the session will be cancelled.

*If the session cannot be carried out as planned due to weather or school notice, the remaining session(s) will be postponed.

*UMSUAA reserves the right to make the final decision on the matters of the event.

Recap of OSA Activities during 2025 UM Open Day
(12 Jan 2025)

In 2025 UM Open Day, Office of Sports Affairs (OSA), together with the Macau Recreation & Sports Shuttlecock Association, Macau Rugby Club and 26 UMSU Sports Sub-clubs have jointly organized a total of 43 sports activities, and there was a total of 7,713 visits throughout our sports activities.

The activities including Macau Rugby Game Booth and 24 UMSU Sports Sub-club Game Booths (American Football Club, Archery Association, Badminton Club, Basketball Club, Diabolo Sports Association, Dragon Boat Club, Football Society, Handball Club, Judo Club, Karate Club, Kinball Club, Korfball Club, Orienteering Society, Rock Climbing Club, Rowing Club, Sailing Association, Sports Association, Squash Society, Table Tennis Club, Taekwondo Club, Tchoukball Club, Tennis Club, Track and Field Club, and Volleyball Club); 11 Sports Experiences (Archery, Badminton, Fencing, Judo, Karate, Rock Climbing, Shuttlecock Kicking, Street Dance, Tchoukball, Touch Rugby and Volleyball); Free Use of Activities included Squash Courts, Swimming Pool, Table Tennis Room, Recreation Facilities (Foosball Table, Ice Hockey Table and Darts Machine), Analyzing Body Composition and UM Sports Complex Guided Tours.

Special thanks to Macau Recreation & Sports Shuttlecock Association, Macau Rugby Club, 26 UMSU sports sub-clubs and UM Sports Volunteers (UMSVP) for their great support and contribution to this activity.

UM Badminton Team won the 5th Place
at “2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) School Badminton Invitation Tournament”

The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) School Badminton Invitation Tournament (2024 粵港澳大灣區學校羽毛球邀請賽) was organized by National Academy of Badminton (國家羽毛球學院) and it was held successfully in Guangzhou from 22-24 Nov. This competition is divided into a university group (13 institutions) and a high school group (18 institutions), with 3 universities from Macao. A total of 291 participants took part in the event. The university group competed in mixed team events, it included Women’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Singles.

UM Badminton Team sent 8 participants to attend the competition. The university group in this competition was divided into 4 sub-groups, after the draw, the University of Macau, Jinan University, and South China Normal University were placed in the same group.

Result of the 1st Stage:
– University of Macau (UM) vs Jinan University : 3:1 (UM Won)
– University of Macau (UM) vs South China Normal University : 2:3 (UM Lost)

UM advanced from their group in 2nd place and moved into the second stage

Result of the 2nd Stage:
– University of Macau (UM) vs Macao Polytechnic University : 1:3 (UM Lost)

The University of Macau finally achieved the 5th place in the university group.

Competition Highlights

UM Fencing Team won 2 Golds, 3 Silvers & 4 Bronzes
at the “28th All China University Fencing Championship”

The “28th All China University Fencing Championship” was organized by Federation of University Sports of China and it was held in Changsha from 28 Oct to 4 Nov 2024. UM Fencing Team won 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in the championship.

There were 95 universities and over 900 students participating in this championship. UM Fencing Team has sent 23 students to participate in individual and team events, they were: Men’s Individual Epee (男子重劍個人), Women’s Individual Epee (女子重劍個人), Men’s Individual Foil (男子花劍個人), Women’s Individual Foil (女子花劍個人), Men’s Individual Sabre (男子佩劍個人), Women’s Individual Sabre (女子佩劍個人). Besides, they also participated in the team events (團體項目).

The competition level was divided into three categories, namely group 1, 2 & 3 (甲、乙及丙組) and group 3 is divided into level A and B while group 3 is the highest skill category, and 3A is the professional level in this regard. Furthermore, UM Fencing Team was given a Sportsmanship Award (體育道德風尚獎).

Activity Highlights

The 4th “Badminton Fans Cup” Badminton Competition organized by Badminton Club of UMSU and MUSTSU was successfully held from 2-4 Nov at MUST Sports Pavilion and Badminton Hall of UM.

The competition events included Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. There were 86 student participants (26 participants from UM and 60 participants from MUST) attending the event, they shared that they enjoyed the match not only playing the sports but also knowing new friends, friendship has been established.

The competition result is as follows:

This was a good platform for club members in terms of sports and social aspects. In addition, friendship has been enhanced and they could further build up their network mutually in different areas.

Thank you for the support and we are looking forward to meeting you in our upcoming badminton activities.
