UM Badminton Team won the 5th Place
at “2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) School Badminton Invitation Tournament”

The 2024 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) School Badminton Invitation Tournament (2024 粵港澳大灣區學校羽毛球邀請賽) was organized by National Academy of Badminton (國家羽毛球學院) and it was held successfully in Guangzhou from 22-24 Nov. This competition is divided into a university group (13 institutions) and a high school group (18 institutions), with 3 universities from Macao. A total of 291 participants took part in the event. The university group competed in mixed team events, it included Women’s Doubles, Men’s Singles, Mixed Doubles, Men’s Doubles and Women’s Singles.

UM Badminton Team sent 8 participants to attend the competition. The university group in this competition was divided into 4 sub-groups, after the draw, the University of Macau, Jinan University, and South China Normal University were placed in the same group.

Result of the 1st Stage:
– University of Macau (UM) vs Jinan University : 3:1 (UM Won)
– University of Macau (UM) vs South China Normal University : 2:3 (UM Lost)

UM advanced from their group in 2nd place and moved into the second stage

Result of the 2nd Stage:
– University of Macau (UM) vs Macao Polytechnic University : 1:3 (UM Lost)

The University of Macau finally achieved the 5th place in the university group.

UM Fencing Team won 2 Golds, 3 Silvers & 4 Bronzes
at the “28th All China University Fencing Championship”

The “28th All China University Fencing Championship” was organized by Federation of University Sports of China and  it was held in Changsha from 28 Oct to 4 Nov 2024. UM Fencing Team won 2 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in the championship.

There were 95 universities and over 900 students participating in this championship. UM Fencing Team has sent 23 students to participate in individual and team events, they were: Men’s Individual Epee (男子重劍個人), Women’s Individual Epee (女子重劍個人), Men’s Individual Foil (男子花劍個人), Women’s Individual Foil (女子花劍個人), Men’s Individual Sabre (男子佩劍個人), Women’s Individual Sabre (女子佩劍個人). Besides, they also participated in the team events (團體項目).

The competition level was divided into three categories, namely group 1, 2 & 3 (甲、乙及丙組) and group 3 is divided into level A and B while group 3 is the highest skill category, and 3A is the professional level in this regard.  Furthermore, UM Fencing Team was given a Sportsmanship Award (體育道德風尚獎).

“2024 CICA Masters’ Cup – Badminton Competition” was Held Successfully

“2024 CICA Masters’ Cup – Badminton Competition” was held on 16, 17 & 23 Nov successfully.

UMSU Badminton Club was invited to provide referee service (including the Umpire and Line Judges). Ten college teams were divided into two groups. The preliminary round was held on 16 & 17 Nov respectively, and the best of the 2 teams would be qualified to the final round, which was taken place on 23 Nov. The final result is shown as below:

Activity Highlights
       

 

The 4th “Badminton Fans Cup” Badminton Competition organized by Badminton Club of UMSU and MUSTSU was successfully held from 2-4 Nov at MUST Sports Pavilion and Badminton Hall of UM.

The competition events included Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. There were 86 student participants (26 participants from UM and 60 participants from MUST) attending the event, they shared that they enjoyed the match not only playing the sports but also knowing new friends, friendship has been established.

The competition result is as follows:

This was a good platform for club members in terms of sports and social aspects. In addition, friendship has been enhanced and they could further build up their network mutually in different areas.

2024 UM Sports Fest – Medalist of Squash Competition

We are pleased to share with you that the Squash Competition (Student Category) was successfully held on 12, 13, 19, 23 & 25 Oct, the medalist and the result are as follows:

Interested students who would like to join the UMSU Squash Club, here is their information:

Member Hours (until 30 Nov 2024):
Every Wed: 19:00-21:00 (court 1,2)
Every Fri: 19:00-21:00 (court 1)

2024 UM Sports Fest, from 28 Sep – 27 Oct 2024, was jointly organized by

  • Office of Sports Affairs (OSA)
  • UMSU Sports Association (UMSU SPA)
  • UM Staff Sports Club (UMSSC)
  • 20 UMSU Sports Sub-clubs

This year, we arranged to have 24 activities (9 sports experience and 15 competition events), including American Football, Archery, Badminton, Basketball, Diabolo, Dragon Boat, Fencing, Football, Judo, Karate, Kinball, Korfball, Orienteering, Rock Climbing, Rowing, Squash, Table Tennis, Tchoukball, Tennis, Track and Field, and Volleyball)..
