Activity Highlight
Sports Promotion Program (2) – Korfball experience was held successfully at The Pui Ching Middle School
Sports Promotion Program, co-organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) and SJM Resorts, is a series of sports activities being held at different local high schools. It includes Dragon & Lion Dance, Korfball & Tennis experience classes.
The 1st Korfball Workshop was successfully held on 23 Apr at Pui Ching Middle School in Macau. A total of 5 UM Korfball team members served as instructors, introducing students to the rules and techniques of Korfball—a Dutch-originated team sport that emphasizes cooperation and mixed-gender participation, making it suitable for students of different genders and body types. Through group training and friendly matches, students had the opportunity to experience the fun of this sport.
A total of 60 students participated in the activity, all students enjoyed the experience, leaving with smiles and a sense of happiness, having created wonderful memories together.

The result of the UM CICA Master’s Cup are as follows:
Champion: SHEAC
1st Runner-up: LCWC
2nd Runner-up: CKLC
“2024/2025 UM CICA Master’s Cup Cheerleading Competition” was held successfully
“2024/2025 UM CICA Master’s Cup Cheerleading Competition” was held successfully on 27 Apr. The Cheerleading Competition is a signature annual event for 10 RCs and it is jointly organized by Committee on Inter-College Affairs (CICA) and the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA).
Besides 200 participants and working personnel of the competition, it attracted over 500 staff and students to attend and support their RC teams on-site. The evaluation of the competition was based on different aspects: Teamwork, Technique, Implementation, Creativity, and Use of Sound and Props. Each team went out all to give the audience their best and their impressive performance received warm applause and cheers from the audience. The result of CICA Cheerleading Competition are shown as below:

The cheerleading competition as the final event of the CICA Master’s Cup series competition, the CICA Master’s Cup awards ceremony was also conducted afterwards. Eventually, CKLC won the 2nd Runner-Up, while LCWC won the 1st Runner-Up and SHEAC won the Championship.

Courses Highlights
Cheerleading Training Camp (Coaching and Judging Course) was held successfully held
The “Cheerleading Training Camp (Coaching and Judging Course)” was successfully held from 2-6 April, organized by the Office of Sports Affairs (OSA). The training featured certified instructors from the China Cheerleading Association (CCA), championship-level coaches, and international-level judges, who provided professional guidance on cheerleading techniques, coaching methodologies, and competition judging standards.
The event was honored to welcome Mr. Danny Yen, the Life Honorary Chairman of the Cheerleading Federation of Hong Kong, China, as a special observer and advisor. A total of 28 participants took part in the activity, including UM Cheerleading Team coaches and members, RC Cheerleading Team coaches and alumni.
All participants who completed the course and passed the assessment were awarded an official certified training certificate. The activity not only enhanced the participants’ skills but also contributed to the development of cheerleading in Macau.

Dragon and Lion Dance Experience
Dragon and Lion Dance Experience (International students session) was successfully held
The Dragon and Lion Dance Experience (International students session) organized by Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) was held successfully on 26 Mar 2025 at UM Sports Complex (N8). Aimed at promoting the Chinese cultural heritage, the ancient Chinese tradition brought together international students from different backgrounds.
The activity invited the UM Dragon and Lion Dance Team for guidance. Participants not only learned about the background and development of the dragon dance but also had the opportunity to experience both the dragon and lion dances. The activity facilitated cultural exchange, enabling international students and sports team members to interact and deepen their understanding of diverse cultures.
Both the participants enjoyed a lot in the activity with positive feedback. Many students expressed their interest in this traditional art form and joined the sports team training after the activity.

Dragon and Lion Dance Experience (International Students Session) on 26 Mar

UM Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) is going to organize “Dragon and Lion Dance Experience” on 26 Mar. We cordially invite international students from UM to participate the activity and appreciate traditional Chinese culture together. The activity invited UM Dragon and Lion Dance Team to provide guidance. Under the leadership of the team members, participants will learn about the historical background and cultural significance of dragon and lion dance, practice basic steps, techniques, and routines, and personally experience the joy of dragon and lion dance.

Activity Highlights
UM Korfball Team Fun Day was successfully held
The UM Korfball Team Fun Day was held successfully on 12 Feb 2025 at UM Sports Complex (N8) and there was a total of 70 UM students participating in this activity.
Office of Sports Affairs (OSA) organized the sports team Fun Day with the aim to let UM students to interact with the university team members and to experience team training through designated games.
In order to let the participants to know better about our UM Korfball Team, beside introducing each team members, the team history and past achievements were also being presented. And in order to let participants to have a better understanding of this sport, the basic korfball rules and regulations were being introduced through instructional videos. After that, all participants experienced different kinds of training and finally, participants formed teams to compete in friendly matches.
Both the participants and korfball team members enjoyed a lot in the Fun Day with positive feedback.
