隊員福利及義務

被正式錄取為辯論隊隊員可享有以下福利：
· 免費參加本隊的訓練以及獲得辯論知識指導。
· 享有被推薦參加暑期交流計劃及獲取補貼的機會。

隊員義務

University of Macau Cantonese Debating Team (UMCDT) is now recruiting!

UMCDT is dedicated to promoting Cantonese debating activities and collaborating with local and Hong Kong tertiary institutions to enhance debating skills and facilitate exchanges. 

Welfare and Obligation of UMCDT Members
Those who are officially admitted to the UMCDT can enjoy the following welfare:
– Join our training and gain the instructions of debating skills for free.
– Enjoy the chances to be recommended to take part in the Summer Programmes and get subsidies.
– Enjoy the chances to take part in various activities and competitions regarding UM CDT.
– Those whose attendance is over 80% throughout the whole academic year can get 400 Special A in Whole Person Development Award Programme.

Members’ Obligation
-Attend weekly regular training and additional training before competitions.
– Take part in the competitions and performances hosted by UMCDT.

Training Time
– 20:30 to 22:30 every Thursday and Saturday night.
– Additional training before competitions.
– Specific training time will be adjusted due to training progress and UM Calendar.

Requirement
We require you to have team spirit and a sense of responsibility. You need to have interest in Cantonese Debating and ensure to participate in our weekly training.

各位同學：

第十八屆澳門大學普通話辯論賽決賽將於二零二四年三月十七日(星期日)舉行。現誠邀各位同學蒞臨觀賽。賽事詳情如下：

日期：2024年3月17日（星期日）

地點：E2 – G012 (澳門大學伍宜孫圖書館演講廳)

時間：13:00-15:00 季軍賽：中學校園應/不應禁售碳酸飲料

　　　15:30-17:30 冠軍賽：生成型人工智能聊天系统對教育發展利大於弊/弊大於利

語言：普通話

觀賽同學將獲得每一場 1粒至叻星及20個「知識整合能力 」的分數 (即CS) 。請注意，只有擁有賽前和賽後兩次拍卡記錄的同學才能獲得上述獎勵。

觀眾憑票入場，兩場比賽觀賽之門票將於3月11日早上10:00開始發放。門票領取地點為E31-2007前台，每位學生最多領取兩場比賽之門票各一張，每場比賽觀賽之門票限80張，先到先得。

第一屆澳門英語辯論公開賽圓滿結束

由澳門大學英語辯論隊、澳門大學學生會英語辯論協會及國際青少辯論和演講協會主辦的“第一屆澳門英語辯論公開賽”於二月二十四及二十五日在澳門大學學生活動中心劇場順利舉行。

為了讓大賽選手有更加充分的準備，邀請了世界知名辯手為選手提供免費培訓，培訓時間為二月十六日至二十二日，在線舉行。邀請到的講師包括世界冠軍、劍橋大學的David Africa，亞洲冠軍、馬尼拉典耀大學的Rivaldo Aquino，歐洲冠軍、都柏林聖三一學院的Jack Palmer，以及全國冠軍、澳門大學的李佳能。培訓內容涉及人工智能、經濟以及倫理學。培訓講座深受參賽選手喜愛，每場出席人數均超過一百人。

大賽設公開組、新手組和中學組三個組別。比賽先進行了五場循環積分賽，而後按積分排行晉級。公開組晉級十六支隊伍，進行四分之一決賽，進一步比拼後八支隊伍進入半決賽，最後晉級四支隊伍在總決賽角逐總冠軍。新手組及中學組晉級八支隊伍，開展半決賽。兩個組別最後均有四隊晉級至總決賽，爭奪各組別的冠軍。賽事設公開組、新手組與中學組總決賽冠軍及公開組、新手組與中學組最佳辯手六項獎項。

在六十六支隊伍的激烈的角逐後，來自工商管理學院、鄭裕彤書院的朱帥榕晉級公開組決賽，來自科技學院、曹光彪書院的Omar Kassana Jimenez Ali和社會科學學院、霍英東珍禧書院的張楷晉級公開組四分之一決賽；來自人文學院、蔡繼有書院的王熙睿、社會科學學院，張崑崙書院的王思哲，教育學院、霍英東珍禧書院的吳翊諾，人文學院、馬萬祺羅柏心書院的李宛軒晉級新手組決賽；來自人文學院、紹邦書院的李紫軒，人文學院、鄭裕彤書院的王含玉，人文學院、蔡繼有書院的張幼溪，人文學院，紹邦書院的梁巧妮晉級新手組半決賽；來自人文學院、鄭裕彤書院的王含玉，社會科學學院、張崑崙書院的王思哲，社會科學學院、滿珍紀念書院的陳俊鍇，分別獲得新手組第二、第三和第五最佳辯手。

澳門英語辯論公開賽的前身為澳門大學新手杯，受疫情的衝擊一度轉為線上舉辦。作為疫情後第一次線下比賽，主辦方增設了公開組和中學組，吸引了大量港澳及內地的高水準辯手參賽。澳門大學英語辯論隊的同學在激烈的競爭中唇槍舌劍，脫穎而出，助力推進澳門地區高校英語辯論賽事的發展。同時，參賽者們表示，他們不僅從經驗豐富的裁判們收獲了寶貴的建議和激動人心的線下比賽體驗，還獲得了參觀澳門大學這所高等院校的機會，飽覽了澳門繁華秀麗的城市風光。澳門英語辯論公開賽還給參賽者們提供了認識來自五湖四海的朋友的良好平台，令大家在切磋中增進友誼，並在比賽結束時約定：期待與你在下一次比賽相見！

 

 

The first Macau Debate Open 2024 was held successfully

Organized by the UM English Debating Team (UM EDT), UM Students’ Union English Debating Society (UMSUEDS), and the International Youth Debate & Speech Association (YDSA), Macau Debate Open 2024 (MDO 2024) was successfully held on February 24th and 25th at the Student Activity Center Theater of the University of Macau.

In order to provide participants with comprehensive preparation, the organizing committee invited world-renowned debaters to offer free training. The training sessions took place online from February 16th to 22nd. Esteemed speakers included David Africa, the World Champion from the University of Cambridge; Rivaldo Aquino, the Asian Champion from Manila De La Salle University; Jack Palmer, the European Champion from Trinity College Dublin; and Li Jianeng, the National Champion from the University of Macau. The training covered various topics including artificial intelligence, economics, and ethics. The lectures were highly appreciated by the participating contestants, resulting in attendance exceeding one hundred people per session.

The competition consisted of three categories: Open, Novice, and School categories. The event commenced with five rounds of round-robin matches, followed by advancement based on accumulated points. In the Open category, sixteen teams progressed to the quarter-finals, from which eight teams emerged to compete in the semi-finals. The top four teams from the semi-finals then competed in the Grand Final for the ultimate championship title. Similarly, in the Novice and School categories, eight teams advanced to the semi-finals. Ultimately, four teams from each category advanced to the Grand Final, vying for the championship titles in their respective categories. The competition culminated with the presentation of six prestigious accolades: the Grand Final Championship titles for the Open, Novice, and School categories, as well as the distinguished recognition of the Best Debater award in each category.

After fierce competition among 66 teams, Aaron, Zhu Shuairong from FBA & CYTC advanced to the Grand Final of the Open category. Omar Kassana Jimenez Ali from FST & CKPC, as well as Zhang Kai from FSS & HFPJC, reached the quarter-finals of the Open category. Siri, Wang XiRui from FAH & CKYC, Archie, Wang Sizhe from FSS & CKLC, Norah, Wu YiNuo from FED & HFPJC, and Leanna, Lei Un Hin from FAH & MLC, advanced to the Novice Grand Final. In the Novice category semi-finals, Ciara, Li ZiXuan from FAH & SPC, Marvin, Wang HanYu from FAH & CYTC, Usee, Zhang Youxi from FAH & CKYC, and Jacqueline Leong Hao Nei from FAH & SPC, made it through. Additionally, Marvin, Wang HanYu from FAH & CYTC, Archie, Wang Sizhe from FSS & CKLC, and Jack, Chen Chon Kai from FSS & MCMC, were awarded the 2nd Best Novice Debater, 3rd Best Novice Debater, and 5th Best Novice Debater, respectively.

Macau Debate Open (MDO), formerly known as the University of Macau (UM) Novice Cup, was temporarily shifted to an online format due to the impact of the pandemic. As the first offline competition after the pandemic, the organizers introduced the Open Division and School Division, attracting a significant number of highly skilled debaters from Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. Students from the University of Macau English Debating Team (UM EDT) showcased their eloquence and wit amidst intense competition, contributing to the advancement of English debating in the Macau region. Participants expressed their gratitude for the valuable advice provided by the experienced panel of judges and the thrilling offline competition experience. It was a great opportunity for debaters to visit the University of Macau, while immersing themselves in the vibrant and picturesque cityscape of Macau. Macau Debate Open served as an excellent platform for participants to forge connections with friends from diverse backgrounds, fostering friendships through intellectual exchanges. As the competition came to a close, participants eagerly agreed: “We look forward to meeting you again in the next competition!”

2024 Macau Debate Open (English) – Open Grand Final

We are excited to announce the upcoming “2024 Macau Debate Open (MDO)”. Building upon the success of the  “UM Novice Cup,” we are committed to providing accessible and high-quality debating experiences for students in Macau, Hong Kong, and mainland China.

The Open Grand Final of MDO will take place on February 25th at 16:00 in the E31-SAC Theatre. This thrilling event will showcase critical thinking, persuasive arguments, and eloquent delivery in the British Parliamentary (BP) format. Participants from around the world, including the host UM English Debating Team and Youth Debate & Speech Association, will be present.

We invite all UM students to join as spectators and witness this intellectual dialogue. As observers, you will have the opportunity to learn and grow from this unforgettable experience. 

Please note that registration is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. To secure your spot, please fill out the attached registration form by 24 February 2024. We are excited to announce the UM English Speech Contest Performance 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your English public speaking skills and immerse yourself in a vibrant English learning atmosphere. Here are the details:

I. Aims:
The English Speech Contest aims to foster an English learning environment at UM while providing students with a platform to demonstrate their talent and passion for public speaking in English. Esteemed instructors and English public speaking experts will serve as judges, offering valuable feedback to enhance your performance. This contest will also help connect and build the English public speaking community on campus.

II. Theme:
The theme for the contest is “Cybersecurity and Its Impact on Today’s Youth.”

III. Registration Period and Place:

澳門大學演講隊參加2024亞洲英語奧運會

2024年1月29日至2月3日，澳門大學演講隊的兩位學生在在印尼雅加達參加了由2024亞洲英語奧林匹克組委會和BINUS英語俱樂部（BNEC）舉行的2024亞洲英語奧林匹克（AEO）。

AEO是亞洲高中生和大學生中最具規模的年度英語競賽之一，此次比賽分為辯論、新聞廣播、演講、拼字比賽、講故事、廣播劇等8個項目的比賽。這是一次國際性的挑戰，來自亞洲的多個國家的選手參加了本次比賽，有菲律賓，印尼，韓國和中國等。今年的主題“Ascend Your Olympus” (攀登你的奧林匹斯山)旨在鼓勵個人成長並追求自己的最高願望和潛力。這個激勵人心的主題敦促人們追求自己的目標，克服挑戰，並達到自己個人成功、卓越或實現的巔峰。

澳門大學演講隊派出參賽的選手是來自工商管理學院、何鴻燊東亞書院的一年級學生李響同學和工商管理學院、呂志和書院一年級學生楊艾同學。在本次比賽中，兩人獲得了團體賽第五名的成績並在個人演講比賽中進入了四分之一決賽。參賽後，她們表示:“通過比賽，我們不但可以展示英語技能，也能與來自不同亞洲地區的英語愛好者進行交流、豐富了我們的國際見識。”

這次參賽對演講隊隊員來說，無疑是一次寶貴的國際交流經歷。她們在比賽中見識到不同亞洲地區選手在英語技能和文化思維上的差異，同時也擴寬了自己的國際視野。澳門大學演講隊將利用此次寶貴經驗，在日後的訓練和比賽中持續提升自己，日後為澳大爭取更佳成績。

The Public Speaking Team of the University of Macau participated in the 2024 Asian English Olympics

From 29th January to 3rd February, 2024, two students of the Public Speaking Team of the University of Macau participated in the 2024 Asian English Olympics (AEO), which was held by the Organizing Committee of the 2024 Asian English Olympics and Binus English Club (BNEC) in Jakarta, Indonesia.

AEO is one of the largest annual English competitions for high school and college students in Asia. This year’s competition included eight events such as debate, news broadcasting, speech, spelling bee, storytelling, radio drama, etc. It was an international challenge with competitors from multiple countries in Asia, including the Philippines, Indonesia, South Korea, and China. This year’s theme “Ascend Your Olympus” aimed to encourage personal growth and the pursuit of one’s highest aspirations and potential. This inspiring theme urges people to pursue their goals, overcome challenges, and reach their personal peak of success, excellence, or fulfillment.

The competitors representing the Public Speaking Team of the University of Macau were a first-year student Li Xiang from the Faculty of Business Administration and the Stanley Ho East Asia College, and Yang Ai from the Faculty of Business Administration and the Lui Che Woo College. In this competition, they achieved a fifth-place finish in the team competition and advanced to the quarterfinals in the individual speech competition. After the competition, they said: “Through the competition, we not only had the opportunity to showcase our English skills but also to interact with English enthusiasts from different Asian regions, which greatly enriched our international perspective.”

This participation was undoubtedly a valuable international exchange experience for the members of UM Public Speaking Team. They gained insights into the differences in English skills and cultural thinking among competitors from different Asian regions, while broadening their international horizons. The Public Speaking Team of the University of Macau will use this valuable experience to continuously improve themselves in future training and competitions, and strive for better results in the future.

UM English Speech Contest Performance 2024

We are excited to announce the UM English Speech Contest Performance 2024. This is an excellent opportunity for you to showcase your English public speaking skills and immerse yourself in a vibrant English learning atmosphere. Here are the details:

I. Aims:
The English Speech Contest aims to foster an English learning environment at UM while providing students with a platform to demonstrate their talent and passion for public speaking in English. Esteemed instructors and English public speaking experts will serve as judges, offering valuable feedback to enhance your performance. This contest will also help connect and build the English public speaking community on campus.

II. Theme:
The theme for the contest is “Cybersecurity and Its Impact on Today’s Youth.”

III. Registration Period and Place:

  1. Application and Submission:
  • Application deadline: March 5, 2024 (Tuesday)

澳門大學合唱團簡介
澳門大學合唱團是澳門具有規模的大專院校合唱團。創立於2004 年、以豐富澳門大學校園合唱音樂文化、推廣合唱藝術，及為學生提供高質素的合唱音樂演出為宗旨。除定期舉辦校園音樂會外，更經常與本澳及外地高質素的合唱 團及樂團同台演出。近期之演出包括：2015年11月參加國際合唱聯盟世界合唱博覽會並分別獲得A組銀獎和B組金獎；2016年4月23日與管弦樂隊呈現“且歌且行”校園音樂會。2018年10月赴北京參加中國國際合唱節，並於國家大劇院表演。2021年5月更前往四川成都參與第六屆大學生藝術展演活動並獲一等奬。

團員福利及義務
被正式錄取為合唱團團員可享有以下福利：
• 免費參加本團的排練及獲得基礎音樂知識指導；
• 享有被推薦與本地或外地合唱團體交流的機會；
• 享有被推薦參加暑期交流計劃及獲取補貼的機會；
• 享有參與與本團相關的校內外其他活動的機會；

Introduction of UM Choir
Established in 2004, University of Macau Choir is the largest university choir in Macao SAR. It aims to enrich the music culture in UM, to promote chorus music, and to provide high-quality music performance for all UM members. Besides organizing regular concerts within the campus, it has also worked with other domestic and oversea choirs. Recent performances include: IFCM World Choral Expo, participated in November, 2015, with winning a Silver Medal in the Category A as well as a Gold Medal in the Category B; campus concert “ With Music Along the Music Journey”, presented in April, 2016. In October 2018, UM Choir were the first Macau high school and troupe to perform at the National Centre for the performing arts for Beijing International choral festival. In May 2021, UM Choir participated in the “6th National College Arts Exhibition” in Sichuan, China with winning a First Prize. 

Benefits & Obligations
Members can enjoy the benefits listed as below:
•           Free to attend rehearsals and access to musical knowledge and guidance, 
•           Participate in the cultural exchange with local and overseas choral groups, 
•           Being nominated to participate in the summer exchange programmes with or without subsidy,
 •           Having the opportunity to participate in other activities related to UM Choir,
 •           Members with 80% or higher participation rate will be awarded the SPECIAL “A” of Art in the Whole Person Development Award Programme.
 
Members are obliged to: 
•           comply with Choir regulations, 
•           punctually attend the regular and temporary weekly training and performance rehearsal, 
•           participate in various performances and competitions for the University.
 
Training & Practice Schedule
•           19:30-22:30 every Wednesday (voices rehearsal) and, 
•           19:30-22:30 every Friday (voices rehearsal) and,
•           other temporary rehearsals before performance.
 
Eligibility
•           Interested in choral music, enjoy team work and able to attend all training and rehearsals.
•           Interviewees who have basic musical knowledge and prior choral singing experience will be considered as priority.

UMCDT致力於推動粵語辯論活動，與本地及香港的大專院校合作，提升演辯能力並促進交流。現更推出活動，新晉隊員可參加1月27日至28日的珠海迎新營，屆時會有前輩指導，破冰活動，餐聚，之後更加會有小型結業比賽，參與者均能獲證書一份。

隊員福利及義務

被正式錄取為辯論隊隊員可享有以下福利：

University of Macau Cantonese Debating Team (UMCDT) is now recruiting!

UMCDT is dedicated to promoting Cantonese debating activities and collaborating with local and Hong Kong tertiary institutions to enhance debating skills and facilitate exchanges. New members will have the opportunity to participate in our welcome training camp in Zhuhai on 27-28 January 2024. The camp will feature guidance from senior members, ice-breaking activities, social gatherings, and off-campus activities. Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.

Welfare and Obligation of UMCDT Members
Those who are officially admitted to the UMCDT can enjoy the following welfare:
– Join our training and gain the instructions of debating skills for free.
– Enjoy the chances to be recommended to take part in the Summer Programmes and get subsidies.
– Enjoy the chances to take part in various activities and competitions regarding UM CDT.
– Those whose attendance is over 80% throughout the whole academic year can get 400 Special A in Whole Person Development Award Programme.

Members’ Obligation
-Attend weekly regular training and additional training before competitions.
– Take part in the competitions and performances hosted by UMCDT.

Training Time
– 20:30 to 22:30 every Thursday and Saturday night.
– Additional training before competitions.
l Specific training time will be adjusted due to training progress and UM Calendar.

Requirement
We require you to have team spirit and a sense of responsibility. You need to have interest in Cantonese Debating and ensure to participate in our weekly training.
